Let’s look at this “crisis” and realize the amount of problems created by Govt.

First Govt forced people to isolate and creates a massive economic windfall. Then Govt has to make that less painful and pass all kinds of programs to “help” and we think this is necessary because government told us to stay home in the first place. They told supposedly free, private enterprises to shut down and told free, private citizens what they can and cannot do.

Why do we accept this? Why do we call for this in the face of any adversity?

Here is how Liberty and freedom of choice works:

1. There is a dangerous virus. Media warns people of who is most susceptible and informs that if you’re elderly or have underlying issues then you should self quarantine.

2. Life goes on as normal. No economic crises. No massive Govt spending.

3. People and businesses make individual choices on how to best handle this. Some will make poor decisions, and some of those will die. Society is now better due to weaker people having died off. We must deal with it as a fact of life.

4. Human ingenuity finds a cure and we all emerge stronger than before without going through massive financial pain. A few of us mourn the loss of loved ones.

It’s really that fricking simple.

There's some logic flaws in point 3. The ones making the poor / improper decisions are not necessarily the same ones potentially dying as a result of those decisions. You portray it as such.

First upvote.

It is insane how fast most of society looks to the worst of the worst, politicians, to "solve" problems.

We need more brains being free to come up w solutions, not some tiny group of politically motivated megalomaniacs.

Because it entails hard work. Responsibility. Making your own (sometimes difficult) decisions.

Most people, while paying lip-service to freedom, don’t really want it. They’ll never admit it, but it requires too much effort on their part and it’s just too easy to be led around by the nose.

Logic flaw in point 1 as well. You have to have a trustworthy media.

So. Some motherfricker makes a "poor decision" amd infects your healthy wife who later dies and you're ok with this as a "fact of life".

Jesus Christ.

If my wife was healthy she wouldn’t die.

If she was not healthy the smart decision would be to self quarantine and not go around people who are going about their daily lives.

This isn’t hard

You realize you can apply this logic to anything right? Perhaps we should just give up all our freedoms because of what MIGHT happen?

It requires too much personal responsibility.

Because it's scary.
This virus is demonstrating how frightened we have become since 1776 when we had a LOT to fear.

That is not true. Healthy people are dying, just not at the same rate.

To say healthy people are not dying is a lie.

No one knows the final impact of the virus and the economic losses that will be incurred by this?
I suppose the purported fact this virus can be spread from a person who is asymptotic, sets it apart from others.
I get your sentiments though. Time will tell.

This immediately shows that you have no idea what you're talking about.

This is not an effective strategy.

I'm just going to say this - without government people from all over the world would still be flying into the U.S., so there's that. Call it a necessary evil I guess.

First you have to have a just and moral people self-governed by Judeo-Christian norms.

That is the foundation that freedom operates upon.

If you don't have that self-regulating feature, then the state will wind up regulating every minuscule behavior possible.
