Your quote
Then you say:
In response to m saying the gov't shouldn't be paying people to have kids.
So if what is the incentive for the tax break if it isn't financial?

We're well below replacement birth rate and you want to remove incentives to have children.

They woke up this morning. That’s usually enough to start them screaming

All exemptions should be illegal. Everyone should pay the same tax rate, period. No exceptions. Taxes should be so simple that you don't even need to fill out tax forms if you are an employee, normal arse worker. You make x each check. Multiply x by the tax rate. That comes out of your check. Done. Just like sales tax. To simple and fair I know. Doesn't matter how many kids you have. Doesn't matter if you are married. Doesn't matter if you made 1 dollar or 1 million dollars.
Nope. That would result in a tax hike, in some cases a huge tax hike, for 80 percent of Americans.

What? What are you trying to say here? Are you saying ordinary income rate will be zero for the first 75-90k of income?

I do. If it’s a refundable credit it is literally the government paying for people having kids. What did you think it was?

That is what 2 potential democratic POTUS contenders have mentioned.

Would absolutely destroy high earning W-2 employees. Who already shoulder too much of the burden. Democrats are absolutely insane.

It is always about the numbers. What a way to buy votes as well. However, as a GOP opponent, I would suggest the exemption would actually increase tax revenue to the government because those with the exemption are going to purchase more products that must be produced, hence increased employment.

The word exemption is throwing me off. What is being proposed (if you have described it correctly) is an increase in the standard deduction. Exemption is usually used when discussing gifting/estate/GST taxation.

The government letting you keep more of your own money is them paying you?
fricking bootlickers.

You don't know what you're talking about, or you're so emotionally involved you're not thinking clearly.

Then you should be screaming from the mountain tops that the credit not be refundable. That would keep those who have jobs keeping their money and eliminate those with no jobs on welfare receiving a handout for having kids. You dumb idiot. It never ceases to amaze me how many of you morons post with such hubris from a place of complete ignorance.

Fair elections would decimate their party. If they cannot stuff votes they cannot win in most areas. They have no platform, at all.
