You know DeSantis will be under a microscope, as will Biden and how the federal response is handled.

DeSantis best keep his distance from Biden. He can't afford to be caught in any position to be in a glad handing picture like this:

That Sandy storm cemented Obama's second term just weeks before the election. Even though it would have been Romney, it would have been a hell of a lot better than Obama.

If Desantis does well, Biden gets the credit.

If Desantis doesn't do well, nothing happens to Biden and Desantis gets nailed.

That's how it's gonna go

Is this DeSantis first encounter with a hurricane?

If there's widespread destruction and casualties, he could pay a steep political price. I don't think he will lose to Crist, but his leadership skills will be strained to the breaking point with this monstrous storm, and it may impair future political goals.

It has the potential to be a huge lift for Desantis. I think at best it can be a nothing burger for Brandon.

Florida is most definitely not Louisiana. So there’s no angle to play there. Kanye won’t be on tv saying Ron hates black people. And there’s no reason to think the state won’t have excellent response. So Ron gets free national exposure.

OTOH, if sleepy Joe tries to criticize anything, he opens himself up to the jab that the President is making light or fun of the plight of Floridians, which Ron surely is ready for.

What likely will happen is this will be big news until landfall and then will die out on the national news within a day or two. Because they can’t sell “Republican governor does his job.”

Florida strikes me as a state that actually prepares for hurricanes.

I don't expect the feds to be competent, at all. The people of Florida better hope this isn't a historic storm for them.

The media will undoubtedly take this opportunity to promote Biden's federal response and make DeSantis look as incompetent as they can.
I can hear it now:
"DeSantis doesn't have Florida prepared for hurricane"
"Biden orders national guard to help minorities in Tampa , that DeSantis ignored"

I don't doubt for a second that this poster is seriously wishing for widespread casualties in the hopes of scoring political points. It's a sickness with no cure

I think there's so much experience that prep and response are well oiled machines.

It's the states that get hit every few years and rarely with big ones that don't know what to do.

Like when Atlanta gets 2" of snow and the city falls apart.

A few points to consider

1. This is a historically bad event happening. Destruction will be catastrophic

2. As of now I don’t think the feds have been asked to help

3. I think Floridians and the state handle this and DeSantis looks good

4. Because of 3, minimal coverage by national media of this but he will be all over local

Nothing biden does will make him look good. Also, this is bad for crist.

I don't know, but you don't even hear about Puerto Rico that was hit by a hurricane two weeks ago. My mother-n-law has family there and said they are still without power.

Remember when the hurricane hit the island when Trump was in office? Round the clock news on every station. (D)ifferent

I bet the media picks Biden to win for a $1,000.00.
