Seeing as how oil prices are not really rising, the pain is really only on one side.
Oil is flowing through the strait via dark fleet, while alternate pipelines come online.
There is no reason for the US to "cry uncle" at all, no rush in getting the job done.

Agree. Prices on anything mean little to them. Pain could mean something though.

It’s hard to guage with how little news comes out of Iran.
When the pilots were shot down and before the rescue, the Iranian people intentionally blocked the surrounding roads so the IRGC had a much harder time getting to the area.
The IRGC has been killing and jailing Iranians the whole time since their uprising that got 40,000 Iranians murdered. Who knows how many, I’ve read thousands, but they are probably going after the ones with influence.
I think what could tip the scales could be if/when the regular army breaks from the current Iranian government. Their regular army are supposedly not fanatical and do not get the special privileges the IRGC gets.

Pain and tolerance is individual. I've known big, ostensibly tough guys who could not put up with an impacted wisdom tooth. And little to averaged sized guys who wouldn't flinch or wince.
Depends on the capacity of either side to put up with what they consider hardship and for how long. Iranians could see the US as an invading force on their doorstep, thus they might resist longer than what we in the West would consider......reasonable?
How long does the American public want to foot the bill before the compounding little pains begin to grow.
So for us it comes down to how much does it start to effect the pocketbook and for how long. For Iran it's how much economic deprivation can it with stand irrespective of the pocketbook....food shortages, fuel, psychological. They have 2700 years of history of fighting wars and knowing what that means.

It is. so are agenda's. One might tolerate "pain" more if they agree with a particular agenda and/or political ideology. Another might over exaggerate individual pain because they don't agree with a particular agenda or believe that yelping in (faux) pain somehow hurts the political ideology being employed.
