A lot of the immigration debate centers around illegal aliens voting in violation of the law.
Do you believe we should add additional restrictions on who can vote, or simply enforce the laws we already have?
I think making something doubly illegal is one of our governments favorite pastimes.

Certainly there should be more restrictions.
First of all , you should have to prove you are a US citizen
Second of all, a basic awareness text should be administered. With questions like. What year did the US declare independence? What country did we win our independence from? In what year did a Republican President tell Democrats they could no longer own black people? What year did Pearl Harbor get bombed bringing the US into a world war? Who bombed Pearl Harbor? What war did the US enter because of this? Who famously said "I have a dream.....?" How many amendments are there to the COTUS? Just ten questions along those lines, requiring 7 correct answers to be able to vote in that election.
How many adults Americans you reckon could manage that? I say about 1/3. And that's being generous.
PS I bet 90% of Democrats in Congress couldn't manage 70% on such an exam. I'll bet 99% of members of the CBC couldn't do so.

There should be a basic test at the voting booth to determine whether the voter is familiar enough with the candidates to make an informed decision.
This has been my approach for quite awhile. Make it 6 multiple choice questions with a 60 second time limit to speed up the process, you have to get three correct answers and the questions could cover the same stuff that a US citizenship test covers with some current political topics mixed in.
The dummies would have to shut off those smart phones!

Illegally in this country or on a green card no voting of any type. You are just a visitor here.
Citizen on government assistance, vote on general elections for seats in congress/senate/presidential/local/state elections.
Citizen renting and not owning property, no vote on property taxes but vote on sales taxes.
Citizen owning property(s) vote on everything balloted.
I own several rental properties and it pizzes me off that those living in government funded housing can increase my taxes.

Tax paying citizens not on the government dole.

People who serve no less than three years of civil service/military service.

Property owning males, never have to worry about liberalism/socialism ever again.

Huh? Who thinks this is a problem? Are there really any substantial number of "illegal aliens voting in violation of the law?"

i am not surprised that this thread wants to make sure only white men vote.

I find it interesting that many of the people who take "shall not be infringed upon" so seriously when it comes to the second amendment are so willing to put restrictions on a different constitutional right.
That being said, enforce the current laws and abide by the constitution.

Unless I've missed it, not one person has made that case. If I have missed it, kindly point it out to me. Of course you won't be able to do so because no one has said "only white men should be able to vote" this is just your projection again, because being a good liberal you believe blacks are inferior and would never be able to vote if only people who had jobs , were able to pass a small test, and had ID were allowed to vote.
Blacks aren't inferior Brian.

I think passing a political test would be better then a intelligence or civics. People should take a test on the different policies of each candidate . They pick the policies they believe in out of multiple choice then vote for the candidate that the test agrees with or don’t vote at all . Make liberals have to actually know the policies they are voting for . Most liberals have no idea what the democrat candidates they are voting for are actually running on .

Men and Women, over the age of 18, who contribute to society as legal citizens of the United States of America.
so that'd be a NO on:
- children
- illegals
- and anyone accepting some form of government aid to supplement their income.
seems pretty simple to me.

We already have laws about it.
Trump lied when he told you 4 million illegals voted against him.
It was 6. 6 people. Or 3
3 people. Not millions.
They don't vote in significant numbers.

Those who contribute tax money. I don’t believe anyone taking advantage of entitlement programs should be allowed to vote.

Both rule out illegals.

Millions of illegals are property owners.
Many more than that pay taxes. In fact, not paying taxes can be a bar to getting your green card. Tax returns are how they prove they have been in the country long enough to qualify.

Only those who can pass a basic civics quiz. Sort of like the written test required for a driver's license.
