Dumbest post in the history of the internet?

I assume this is a troll, but I'll bite.
I used to feel the exact same way you did. During the Obama administration (at least at the beginning) I felt the "media bias" cries were overblown by right-wingers. Now, the bias is plain as day.
The best evidence is that for nearly 5 years straight every day of the Trump candidacy/presidency has been reported as the looming apocalypse for the nation. EVERY.SINGLE.DAY. Now, I'm not saying there aren't merited grounds for criticism of Trump, but have you ever seen such a complete disconnect between what is being reported and reality? By all objective measures the country is doing well. The economy is soaring. Unemployment is low. And we aren't mired in an expensive and needless major overseas conflict/war. Yet, if you watch the news it is reported as if the country is in the worst shape it's ever been. The doom and gloom hyperbole is truly remarkable when contrasted with reality.
And if that isn't enough to convince you, simply go back and watch the 2016 election night coverage. Every single major media outlet (except for Fox News which is obviously right-wing biased) covered the event in a somber tone as if it were a funeral as became clear throughout the night Trump was going to win. Just watch the tone from the beginning of the night when all were simply expecting a coronation of Hillary and contrast it with the end of the night when they were in somber shock at the result. You literally had "non-biased" journalist on the verge of tears. on air, when it was apparent Trump had won.

NYT and WP I get these might lean left but who reads them anymore?
Say what? The NYT LEANS left? They are MSNBC in print. They rewrite headlines to quell liberal outrage and blamed 9/11 on the airplanes.

CNN seems to push both sides and without a war do we really need 24 / 7 news?
By push both sides you mean prop up the Dems and constantly trash the right don’t you?
I mean.. if the last you watched CNN was in 91, you would be closer.. but you can’t watch 5 minutes of it now and come anywhere near your conclusion.

Well to be fair I had Walter and he was a god
I also had Murrow who exposed that wackadoodle McCarthy
Since the 80's seems we have fewer real reporters and just talking heads reading from a teleprompter
Todays talking heads, who are left, who are right, and who are in the middle?
That is what this post is trying to uncover.

Sadly so. I've got some bubble dwelling friends who think likewise. They're hardcore progressives. They actually believe they're centrists.

The media are 75%+ by admission registered democrats. There you go.

No, I just hear "liberal media" in the car or on the home radio all day (mostly AM but some FM) and outside a few east coast papers, MSNBC, I can't grasp where all these media sources are.
Clearly, living in the south I don't seem to have access to them?

Maybe this is the disconnect then. I am an old school Republican to Dixiecrat after the War of Northern Aggression. Trump is this generations PT Barnum who is good at manipulating people as long as he makes money for himself in the end. He has been married and divorced multiple times. He has carried on with low rent women on the side. He has lied and cheated to get what he wants. If he is the modern face of the Republican then he is no Ike or Goldwater! Part of being a Republican in the past is the higher moral standard and if Trump is this standard then please tell me how the Republican Party got so far from their roots?
Maybe I am old and separate media attacks on Trump from media attacks on Republicans in the south and midwest?
Trump media attacks = Ignore
Republican media attacks = Engage

Try not to remind me, 350 million Americans in the USA and the best we had for election night was Hillary and Donald? Many years from now when historians look at that election I think they will write that the collective voters on both sides were on drugs.

When you're so far left that you think CNN and ABC/NBC are moderate, you're in lala land.
FOX = far right
MSNBC = far left
That makes pretty much everybody else moderate in comparison. Not saying The Mouse is left of center, but compared to MSNBC they seem moderate. Maybe without FOX and MSNBC it would be easier to separate the middle into sides.

So you would rather a career politician vs Trump just to keep things in line with the illusion that everything is ok? Trump is no saint nor has he claimed to be one but to say he’s in this for monetary gain is ludicrous. He may enjoy the massive ego boost out of being the president but he’s not stealing our money like most of the others in the past.

CNN leans far, far harder than any other MSM outlet. I'm surprised Van Jones hasn't chopped his right arm off for being too far to the right.

No, it doesn't. That's an absurd conclusion to reach.

Once they start pushing their opinion into the story
I guess they are talking heads to me and reading from a teleprompter gets old. I avoid watching the news 24 / 7 as they want to sensationalize everything to keep you watching, at that point they are just Jerry Springer in suits and to much based on appearance than real reporting.
I usually limit my daily news to BBC or PBS nightly news which seems to get the job done in about 1/2 for to 1 hour and then you tune in the next day at dinnertime. No 24 / 7 / 365 to keep sensationalizing the same story every half hour and acting like it is new news.
What I am more interested in is drive radio which seems to be mostly crazy people preaching fear or hispanic radio which I can not understand. Is there a channel on AM radio where I can get interesting news and not feel like I am being peddled by a time share salesman?

I’m in Austin today for a doctor’s appt. The waiting room has the local paper (Austin American-Statesman). Their political opinion page includes “left” and “right” perspectives, ostensibly.
The “right” talking point was from some guy who is on staff at the Amazon Washington Post. Of course it was critical of Trump.

quote:Yeah this is all bullshite. CNN pushing both side?
TV / CABLE ABC / CBS / NBC don't seem to far to either extreme and peddle to the game show and soap opera crowds so not much need to push to the far left or far right crowd FOX is right leaning but Murdoch always said he was running entertainment for ratings dollars and not reporting real news if there was no profit in it. Never should have let him have citizenship just so he could own more media in the US. American Media should really be owned by native born Americans. CNN seems to push both sides and without a war do we really need 24 / 7 news? MSNBC seems to be the opposite of FOX but you tune in there to get the news you want BBC (non US version) gives a different world view but not sure all left driven
