re: Who is this liberal media I keep hearing about?

I tend to lean left on healthcare and right on fiscal issues, so I've watched all of them. Don Lemon and Chris Cuomo have pushed CNN further left than MSNBC. Rachel Maddow has pretty much stayed the same for 15 years she is good at making her point from the left intelligently and usually not crazy like CNN has become. Chris Matthews is the Joe Biden of talk news old doesn't know what he's talking about. I miss the O'reilly factor and the Hannity from 10 years ago. No one misses Glenn Beck. I don't care for the new lineup on Fox.
I have for the most part stopped watch talk news. I'll switch from Anderson Cooper, to Maddow, to Tucker occasionally if there has been something breaking but I turn it off pretty quickly. I'll give each about 10 minutes.

So you would rather a career politician vs Trump just to keep things in line with the illusion
No, I would like real politicians from both sides to represent the actual voters than pandering to them just to get a vote so you can keep robbing from them.
FWIW, Trump is a career politician. I was around him for about half a year in the early 80's and he was campaigning for president back then.
It was not just this cycle for lack of real candidates....
Bush (Skull and Bones at YALE)
Kerry (Skull and Bones at YALE)
Bush = East coast educated
Obama = East coast educated
Hillary = East coast educated
Bill = East coast educated
Trump = East coast educated
Bush Sr = East cost educated
I guess my question is why are they never educated in the South or Midwest? We have plenty of smart leaders from these places on both sides of the aisle yet they never get to run in the general election for POTUS.
WHY?

Depends on the day. They can let their emotions get in the way and swing big like Anderson Cooper. He used to do somewhat solid reporting now he has gotten extremely "passionate" at times.
All of them have an angle. You just have to look at it from their angle. Takes about 10-20 minutes for the passion to come through and they all start talking in circles

Because that’s where all of the Ivy League schools are? People see the Ivy League as the creme de la creme so the people with the means try to send their children there....
Pretty straight forward... but then again, you don’t seem like the critical thinking type.

He may enjoy the massive ego boost out of being the president but he’s not stealing our money like most of the others in the past.
Half of my family are NY Sicilians. If you believe he is not stealing every chance he gets you are being fooled. His dad was crooked and he is crooked with a sense of entitlement to being crooked. He is no saint, and he sure does not come anywhere near to the Republicans values of my youth.
Joe Kennedy was mobbed up with the Irish and Italians and his son became POTUS
Fred Trump was mobbed up with the Russians and Italians and his son became POTUS
Why are folks in the south (D and R) entranced with with this?

Is this growing in use?
I couldn't tell you. I found it when I was looking for Roku screensavers. It's pretty sweet. Has many of my local news stations ("local" in this instance means news stations from all over the state of Alabama) and also many national news stations. Also serves as a screensaver and scrolls headlines of news segments on the TV when my Roku is idle. You can "favorite" topics of interest to you and it then starts to highlight segments that include those tags. You can scroll through "Editor Picks," but can also pick specific news sources and scroll through their offerings so I always scroll through the "local" sources, and then the "trending" feed, and then look at gaming news and other items that interest me. They have access to a rather impressive number of news sources.
I often get unedited news footage such as full interviews that they did not include in their news segments. This is especially cool for interviews with football players/coaches, but also nice for other things that aren't as readily available on YouTube such as interviews with police chiefs on local accidents or things like that.

I usually limit my daily news to BBC or PBS nightly news which seems to get the job done in about 1/2 for to 1 hour and then you tune in the next day at dinnertime. No 24 / 7 / 365 to keep sensationalizing the same story every half hour and acting like it is new news.
Haystack sounds like exactly the app for you. We scroll through headlines and pick stories that interest us, and are usually done within an hour.

Look, gramps. I’m glad you figured out technology, but the weather is great today. Why don’t ya ring the orderly and have them take you for a walk around the garden. Maybe you can sneak in a nap before your daily snack of prunes.

I also had Murrow who exposed that wackadoodle McCarthy
Murrow pretty much had no choice but to "expose" McCarthy out of sheer self-defense.
He, in large measure, is responsible for the state of where "journalism" is today.

Give me some examples as to how he is stealing our money.

UVA
UNC

Rice
Tulane
Florida
Georgia

Critical thinking and statistics tells me that with 350 million folks, we need to enlarge the gene pool for leadership outside of just Harvard and Yale. Hell I would take a Cornell or Princeton man if you just limit POTUS to the IVY's.

Not In comparison to the Ivy League, no. All 8 Ivy League schools are in the top 14, and 4 are in the top 3 (2 tired for 3rd).

Like I said. Those with the means, send their kids to Ivy League schools. End of discussion. They send their kids to the best schools in the nation. Then those kids go on to be the leaders of the nation.
It is what it is. Like I said, your critical thinking skills have gone the way of the dinosaur, gramps.

Ask yourself how many former Obama admins work in key positions in the different news orgs...
Ask yourself how many George Soros or PAC he runs has paid millions to a paper or news organization
Ask yourself what the associations or political leanings are of the CEOs of the parent companies that own the news orgs.
Ask yourself if you've ever seen a president have a never ending avalanche of bullshite dug up and thrown at him while the Dems have not lifted a finger to work with Trump on ANYTHING...except the budget to open the govt. No other president has been attacked on a daily basis with so many unconfirmed stories and sources---Ever in the history of this country.

Say what? The NYT LEANS left? They are MSNBC in print.
I am agreeing with you on this point, you missed that with limited readership, how many folks outside the east coast do they reach?
How many folks do you know personally who read the NYT or WP daily? I live in the south and you see the NYT Sunday paper and that is about it. Most of those folks want the crossword puzzle or social news and use the rest to line the birdcage with.
Again, FOCUS
Who is the liberal media in the south?
Folks keep making negative comments but don't offer concrete proof.
As example, 104.5 in Nashville (in the south) broadcasts sports but odes not seem to go left or right so NOT "liberal media" as far as I can tell.

There’s no way you’re this out of touch.
I once had a trial subscription to the NYT (dropped it after 30 days - it was crap and I didn’t like the format) right here in BR. I see it at newsstands here in BR. It’s pretty much a national circulation.

ARWU segmented by USA only
1 Harvard University = POTUS producer Obama
2 Stanford University
3 Massachusetts Institute of Technology
4 University of California, Berkeley
5 Princeton University
6 Columbia University
7 California Institute of Technology
8 University of Chicago
9 University of California, Los Angeles
10 Yale University = POTUS producer Clinton / Bush Sr / Bush Jr
11 Cornell University
12 University of Washington
13 Johns Hopkins University
14 University of Pennsylvania = POTUS producer Trump
15 University of California, San Diego
16 University of California, San Francisco
17 University of Michigan-Ann Arbor
18 Washington University in St. Louis
19 University of Wisconsin - Madison
20 Duke University
If both (R) and (D) POTUS come from just a quick car ride away from each other how come the POTUS gene pool is so small. Clearly the Top 20 schools in the US are spread across the US!
Harvard to Yale ~ 2 hours by car
Harvard to Penn ~ 5 hours by car
Yale to Penn ~ 3 hours by car

Yeah.... the north east is pretty small....

Might wanna check your geography bud.... the vast majority are in the north east (hi Ivy League) with another group in California and a couple of isolated schools.
That is hardly “spread across the us”
That is “massed in the northeast with a few outliers”
