He ain't close to white.

This is true and it's stupid. The federal government classifies hispanics' race as "white". It makes little sense, because most of the immigrants we have here have more native American blood than white. It is true that they are largely mixed race, my Mexican wife for example is 80%+ native American (Mayan), 6% African, with the balance being European. Of course parts of South America have much higher European bloodlines and look more like Europeans. Even different parts of Mexico have varied mixtures. That being said, most hispanics in the US are majority native American blood and don't look "white" at all.
