re: Where does this board stand on Jordan Peterson?

I think he and mike church are very similar in that they both use us excessive vocabulary to appear highly intelligent. I do, however, think Peterson is extremely intelligent and thoughtful.
Also I like how he tells people his diet sucks and is really hard and to only try it if nothing else works. That’s not what most people say. He actively told joe Rogan to not do his diet as there were no medical reasons for trying

I’m sure it has helped them some.
But some of their claims? No, I don’t believe them.
Like if his daughter eats anything other than beef she gets depressed and can’t function for a month?

This is where I agree with Fox. Peterson is brilliant. He's smart enough to understand that, if Kavanaugh stepped down or withdrew, it would incentivize those on the left to repeat the same smears every time a conservative was up for election or nomination. And yet he still supported Kavanaugh's withdrawal.
yeah it also flies in the face of a lot of what he teaches people
he's often concerned with "saying something stupid" and in turn, often does (on the opposite pole)
peak JP is his lectures that are all over youtube before he really cashed in. Fox's comments about being a hustler are largely correct these days

Again, I disagreed with him on Kavanaugh as well. But Ive heard many claim he called for him to step down because he thought Kav was guilty- thats not the case. He thought the woman was a liar like most sane people.
His has more faith in man than I do.

That's not because of the beef. She has an issue and the all beef, salt and water helps curb it. It may be a placebo effect, but placebo effects are effective in some cases.

Straight shooter and intellectual savant with a real heart for people. Doesn't care for bullshite from the left or the right, but especially adamant about calling out the leftist creep in academia. Was disappointed I didn't get a chance to see his lecture in San Antonio.
He always makes me think. Truly enjoy his perspective.

Hey how ya doing, Jordan?
It would take him 15 minutes to respond
You're being a little harsh. I think he's a good spokesperson for the right.
His speech on neo-modernism and progressive movements is very nuanced and I like listening him debate NPC commentators(it's almost unfair).

He's 100% right on feminism and gender issues. He's 100% right on academia and free speech. Let's not shut someone down because he has a weird diet and he had a different opinion on Kavanaugh.
We need more Jordan Petersons and less celebrity worship. He is making inroads with millennials and conservatives need that.
Don't be like my brother, who when my niece brought home a really nice guy who was a student in medical school at UAB, came from a good family - told my niece he wouldn't fit in to the family because he didn't like to hunt and fish.

i don't really follow current JP stuff anymore b/c he's sold out, but man the online groups that HATE P are amazing
i completely relate b/c i used to have the same mindset
one big undercurrent is their absolute hatred of simple truths. they equate complexity with truth b/c it makes them feel superior
also, ignoring (to the point of hating) how older value systems can have value today. kind of like complexity, to them, if something isn't novel, it's not worthy. i'm not exactly sure why, but i think it's a combination of secret knowledge and kind of an excitement

Touche. He's cucked himself here big time. Did he give any decent reason as to why? It better have a damn good explanation.
Here's his explanation. He rants for 10 minutes and basically says he had a brain fart, due to Twitter format and that his idea was just a suggestion and not the best idea. Some serious backtracking, boy. He said he twitted at 2am yada yada.

the problem with JP is that he's become the latter
i mean more power to him. he's a lot better than the last counter culture icon (Milo)

I appreciate Peterson’s tenacity and insights. Overall his message is one a majority of folks would benefit from hearing, digesting, and incorporating.

He wanted something to promote decorum and unity. His weakness is that the believes in the human spirit too much. If he accepted the doctrine of total depravity, he'd be one of the smartest men ever to walk the face of the earth. He understands it - and speaks of the evil that man can do, but he doesn't accept it. He believes the lie that there is good in every person.

Didn't he also say that he stayed up for 25 days straight or something?
I take issue with some of Peterson's characterizations of French Postmodern thought, especially Derrida. I'm pretty sure he's never read him, which is disappointing, as Derrida was amazingly meticulous philosopher. Suggesting Deconstruction is responsible for Postmodernity, or even plays a part in it, is to misrepresent both French Postmodernity and Deconstruction. His suggestion that Derrida was "anti-Western" is nonsensical, as Derrida works from Hegel, Heidegger, Husserl, and others, all of whom are clearly in the Western tradition. Derrida was more versed in the classics and Enlightenment thinkers than he's given credit for, given his long passages on Plato and Rousseau, the latter of whom takes up a long section of Of Grammatology. Derrida and the Frankfurt School (another group which is barely read, understood, but easily maligned) are easy scapegoats for a series of complex issues that appear in Western philosophical tradition. I don't think Peterson does any service to the truth with his representations of it.
