No. There is another possibility - that what worked in the past worked because there always was underlying bullshite in the polls.

Same bullshite in the polls today. That anyone could possibly be LESS inclined to see this now after the performance of leftist media for the last 4 years is an absurdity.

I mean, does anyone with a functioning brain think that the worst presidential candidate since before Dukakis, a blithering basket case than cant remember if he has pants on is up double digits on the most accomplished president in the lifetimes of most Americans? and with vastly higher enthusiasm indications?

Really? Who the hell are you people? bots?

Texas. They are coming from Texas. All the blue state refugees move to a red state, they all claim to be conservative, but that just means they are right of Hillary clinton.

That's absolutely right, spot on. If they're wrong, they expect that it will have been forgotten. And they're pretty much correct about that. Same exact routine with the media.

Everything about today's political climate is hot fricking garbage. Our politicians are corrupt, our media is corrupt, and most of the pundits are completely full of shite and don't know what they're talking about but remain front and center because they get good ratings.

Do you not remember the last election? None of these people thought he had a chance at that point either

If it was such a landslide, the dems wouldn’t be praying for mail in voting

As well as continuing to go full bore in their efforts to damage/hamstring/sabotage his reelection campaign. They certainly haven't let up on that which would indicate that they aren't in a overly confident place.

I wouldn't call that a good sign.

I call it a great sign. Last election cycle no Democrat gave Trump the time of day and he mopped the floor with them. They are throwing literally everything including the kitchen sink at him this cycle.

There really isn't much to suggest that things are similar to 2016

Trump actually has a record to run on now so can't run as an outsider. And he has the unfortunate timing of the pandemic in 2020 and all of the fallout attached to that to contend with.

This is about as far from 2016 as you can possibly imagine

Look on the previous page where I linked the RCP averages from 2016 and 2020

He had a couple of leads, albeit very brief ones in the RCP average

He hasn't come anywhere close to leading against Biden and the polling data predates the pandemic

It's similar in the sense that the left has once again nominated an unelectable candidate

First, I thought we were all in agreement that polls don't mean much, particularly this far out from Nov.

But you asked - here's an ABC/WaPo poll from late May 2016 that showed Trump with a 2 pt lead -v- Clinton.

BHO was short on qualifications but an excellent campaigner

Clinton was an all time campaigner

I am still amazed GWB got elected twice
Since 2004 the right has been a disaster
Trump is not a Republican, he is outsider opportunist that seized control of a weak party
