By whom, to what end? It would seem that the only thing several billion people on the planet are able to produce are more human beings, despite having any capacity to care for their offspring or even themselves.

I only said that because there is a CT about the numbers being fudged.
I do know that at just under 350M, tUSA is the 3rd most populated country and we have an overpopulation issue of a certain kind. Hopefully ICE continues to solve that issue, but I fear we were flooded with too many too quickly.

The issue is not land area, it's resources in the places people want to live. There's hundreds of thousands if not millions of acres of relatively unusable land across the US

It's pretty simple. The Bible puts forth the idea that humanity is the crowning jewel of God's creation. The earth exists for people. He said be fruitful and multiply. But those who hate God reject that idea and believe humans are the worst part of the earth. Their desire is to see humanity shrink. Therefore, they create fear porn about overpopulation despite none of those theories holding up over the years. Listen to Bill Gates talk about this. It is truly creepy how much he wants to reduce humanity.
