It's why we have to eliminate the fascists from this planet.
Amen.
Amen.

You ought to be able to drink a few beers while driving.

As long as you are under the legal blood alcohol threshold it shouldn’t matter when and where you are drinking. One tall boy on the way home from work shouldn’t put the average person over the limit and is a great stress reliever

I put it on cruise control and don't leave the right lane with a brewski. No beer and i'm 80 in the left ready to get home.

Personally, I oppose “open container“ laws, because they serve no purpose other than the convenience of law-enforcement. One beer is not preventing anyone from driving safely.
Laws which prohibit driving while impaired, on the other hand, certainly make sense.
It is hardly “communism” to say that one should not be operating a multi-ton vehicle on a public highway, when too intoxicated to walk 5 feet in a straight line.

Sometimes I buy a six pack of Heinekens at the grocery about twenty miles from home.
Cruise control, blinker discipline and I’m just cracking my third one when I pull into my backyard.
Throw them in the ice chest, jump in the boat and the last three don’t last long.
Fun Fact : They say that you are supposed to eat when you drink. Heineken has 2 grams of protein per bottle. 12 x 2 = 24 grams of protein. That’s a whole meal.

My parents, on long trips, would always mix a cocktail at 5PM while we were building forts in the back seat of the station wagon. It's as all-American as apple pie.

I will not ever take a dui test. Believe me, it is the first words out of the judge's pie hole, "Did John Doe take the test".
I do not drink hardly ever and certainly do not drive after a hardly ever drink.
However, I have tried to take the DUI test while stone cold sober and it can be tough. Now try to take it with flashing strobes, armed agents of the law, and traffic buzzing by at 65 mph.
Frig that!!

Well he wasn't wrong about that part.
But there are probably ways to better deal with the issue that don't involve criminalization.

Laws must be eliminated or severely reeled in due to having so few cops with even a room temperature IQ. Most will just claim "ya been drankin, your eyes er bloodshot" or "I smell mar-a-wana on yew" to make an arrest. Like the South Carolina cops who thought dried bird crap was cocaine residue. I'll take my chances with drunks over hick cops on a power trip.

Those communists.... Making the streets safer. Thats right up there with Stalin's implementation of building codes... People denying us our capitalistic right to take our life into our own hands by visiting buildings with unknown poor structure and fire safety builds We have to pay more for the goods

Why are there no DUI checkpoints in the hood? Seems like they are always in middle class areas around Baton Rouge.
Could it be that it’s a money racket for police departments around the country? Maybe?

It is always about the money. Even when you use your 5th Amendment Right of Protection Against Self Incrimination they will take your license.
Of course, they have found an even bigger money maker and it does not have due process attached. They are called speed or red light cameras. They are all about the money.
Surely, we the people can place cameras around town to prey on the gooooooooooooooberment agents.

While I agree with you to a degree, an open container in any type of Motor Vehicle on roads(country road’s different) other innocent non drinkers are driving shouldn’t be allowed. Too many worms
