I automatically assume I’m dealing with an extremely dumb and easily influenced person. How about you?

Funny because my very liberal family member mocked me for doing my own research and refusing the clot shot based off of the information I had gathered. Guess we can’t win.

Someone got down a rabbit hole and doesn't know how to get you there but doesn't want you to think they are crazy

Yeah anytime someone uses the word "science" in a political argument I immediately tune out. That word has lost all meaning and basically just means whatever liberal agenda that is being pushed at the time

A lot of the libs on this board play dumb but aren’t actually dumb. Hence why the rest of us tell them to do their research instead of having to re-explain whatever the topic intracacies are again.

Not sure how that would make them stupid but you do you sir.

Depends. If it is apparent (as in this case) that you had NOT done any research, I tend to agree with the sentiment.

When the person asking the question is a known conspiracy theory nutcase, I tend to disregard the question.

Validity..

Kinda hard to validate anti propaganda when propaganda has been legalized.

If it is a government or MSM source, I consider it false and misleading.

When you've gone through hundreds of articles and videos over years, sometimes it is hard to remember the specific place you saw something. Depending on the topic, many times the information has been scrubbed and reuploaded to a new place. Also, it's difficult to give you an exact link when information is taken from multiple sources.

I think more highly of people that say "do your research" than those that need their hand held and only believe what an "authority" tells them, especially when it is a government or media authority that has been caught lying multiple times.

You’re one of the biggest adherents to the theology of Branch Covidianism this board has ever seen.

But, do you stop talking? If not, why not? You already know that anything you say is a waste of breath.

It depends, I honestly can't research every single thing, and half the time I can't even trust that the info I'm getting is correct, but it usually depends on who I'm talking to. If it's someone that watches MSNBC and CNN religiously, I feel pretty good about my position. If it were someone like say Wednesday, or some usually well informed posters on here, I would probably second guess myself.

These folks actually mean "trust these politically-motived scientists who agree with me."

Depends on the context. I've seen that dropped after someone posted lots of links and sources while the other person just posted random shite. And I've also seen that dropped immediately, without any attempt to back up whatever was being claimed.

Seems pretty smart to me, I always research things that are important to me. I would never take on face value anything on social media, news outlets, podcasts, etc. A good example is the comments on this board about the “Inflation reduction bill” The bill is stupid, just more wasted taxpayer money. However, it is pretty obvious that none of the people posting about the bill have actually read it. So I would tell someone making erroneous comments about what the bill is going to do or not, to do some research, read the bill for yourself.
