Conservative hero.
I don't know a single conservative, me included, who believes owning a machine gun is needed for home defense or for hunting.

When asked if he "felt" any blame for the way things are, he replied "of course, I used to be a democrat!"

Second favorite...

"It isn't that my liberal friends are ignorant. It is just that they know so much that isn't so!"

That's misleading. What he said was:

"In this present crisis, government is not the solution to our problem; government is the problem." [emphasis added]

I put him pretty much right with FDR. Policies themselves are open to debate, and the ills they were elected to fix where greatly helped by things they had little to do with.

From a morale and leadership standpoint, though, they both set a tone that was a watershed away from the precipitous decline they inherited.

Reagan was not a conservative.

Also, you're taking his quote sort of out of context here. When he said this, it was his belief that the incident he was speaking about was done with a fully automatic AK-47. So here, those are what he is talking about. He was incorrect, it was done with a semi-automatic one.

What? Reagan was a gun control proponent. Bigly.

It's better cousin was...

"Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it."

Reagan was making a killing bringing in cocaine and selling it in America and has the balls to say Marijuana is the most dangerous drug in America. He didn't give one damn about the Constitution, I hold him to same standard as every other President. They can't all be true Constitutional heroes like Grover Cleveland but Reagan isn't close.

And you probably think Kennedy was a great President!

Comparing Kennedy to Regan is like comparing a Honda to a Mercedes

You lefties like to bring up Iran Contra but are blind to The Bay of Pigs, Cuban Missle Crisis(caused by Kennedy that almost led the world to WW3, with no success for the US in resolution) and the Vietnam War.

Please tell me one good thing that the Kennedy administration ever accomplished. Tell me one thing they did that changed the world for the better.

Not sorry to inform you but Camelot is a myth!
Kennedy was an awful president who had 2 speeches that he didn't write.

Of course it is common for him because he won a Pulitzer prize for a Novel, Profiles in Courage, which he also didn't write.

Were you around for the abortion that was Carter's administration? Reagan was a complete turn around!
One of my heros. He brought the country back from where we were at the end of Carter's inept arse.

Reagan quoting Magee when he said that the Challenger astronauts had "slipped the surly bonds of earth". That's my favorite Reagan quote. Credit also goes to Peggy Noonan for writing this speech and using the Magee quote.
