What’s up with a bunch of athletes catching the flu recently?

You keep hearing about a bunch of teams having trouble with the flu. Outside of sports news I haven’t heard of anyone around me catching the flu. Something is up. Did teams finally figure out to lie about Covid since it’s not a threat to them?

I have, which is pretty typical for this time of year

My cousin's wife is a pharmacist in a hospital and is one of the few people who has kept me somewhat bought in to the Covidian side due to all the people she claims to have seen die. But, she said the other day, "flu seems to be eliminated." It took a lot of restraint for me to not make a comment about how much of the purported COVID illness/death is recategorized flu.

Were you in a coma during the winter of 2020?

No, are you trying to argue that this isn't flu season? Or do you want people to continue to report flu cases as COVID? Flu cases up in the winter being typical is a true statement. You said you haven't heard of any flu cases outside of sports. I'm saying I have. I know plenty of people who have had the regular old flu run through their households recently.

I am convinced that I had the flu along with being covid positive. I had sinus congestion and felt it going to my lungs so I went to the clinic. Had a covid test but didn't feel bad at all at the time. I should have asked for the flu test also because for the next 2 weeks I felt like I had the flu.

We didn’t have a flu season last year. Wonder if we will this year?

Got the actual flu vaccine back in Sept, not sure I should have, but am now dealing with a very mild nose / throat matter. No fever, nose was a bit runny and congested Friday night, but about 90% back to normal now.

Ole Miss and Oxford in general were overrun with the flu.

Tamiflu and xofluza were very scarce. This was the week before Thanksgiving. Not sure of current situation.

Most of Georgia's starters had "flu" 3 weeks ago vs. Tennessee.

It is suspect. Probably just the name you can call COVID if you are "fully vaxxed".

Or,

Categorize it as something else...

along with no longer shaking hands,
washing hands a LOT,
being more careful with sneeze and coughs... i.e. into elbow,
and some reasonable social spacing....

Plus, not touching our faces with dirty hands... unless you are wearing a mask.

I dunno, masks were common with the Spanish flu and the Hong Kong flu
