I will probably have to spend the weekend gathering data

I'll save you some time.

1.) Delta is disappearing and you are not likely to get it.
2.) If you were double vaxed more than 20 weeks ago it's effectiveness against Omicron is almost 0%.
3.) If you were boostered in the last 10 weeks or less it may...MAY...provide up to 50% effectiveness against symptomatic Omicron.
4.) you are likely to get Omicron anyway but it won't kill you.

Weigh the risks and talk to your new cardiologist.

I was fortunate that my doc was like this. He had to leave his large hospital group to go out on his own over COVID treatments (or lack thereof).

They put him on some medicine and it’s hasn’t happened in a while. The medicine helped or his condition chilled out, not sure

He’s a touchy guy. I was calling him speedracer when he’d have his little episodes as a kind of payback from him messing with me about not get the shots before that

Hope you get better

The "pattern" is not similar for Omicron.

You have no idea if it will be or not since we haven’t gotten to the same point in time. There’s no doubt that the size of the surge in deaths won’t be proportionally the same, but that doesn’t mean there won’t still be a significant rise in deaths due to the sheer magnitude of cases.

I guess we don’t know what it did in the U.K. I guess we don’t already know hospitalizations are down over 50% versus delta cases.

We are two weeks behind Italy.

Weren’t you just telling me there were other variables beyond COVID at play? Our mix of vaccination status and underlying risk factors (amongst other things) isn’t the same as other places ahead of us in the Omicron surge. NY saw a steeper rise in deaths than the UK and Italy. I think there’s reason for hope, but reality may lie somewhere in between.

The vaccines have caused irreparable heart damage to people. I spoke with this lady at the cardiologist's office last month. She said the doctors told her point blank she'd had a reaction to the Pfizer vaccine that had caused her problems.

Anyone know? My cardiologist said tons of people were dying from omicron. I told him that was demonstrably false. I asked him to name 3 people. I ended up telling him to get effed after he denied that vaccines had caused cardiac problems for some people, my boss included. I have a rapid heart rate that hangs over 100 90% of the day, so I have some concerns about getting a booster that my hospital employer is forcing (the booster that doesn’t seem to work against omicron)

Am I wrong about all this? Anyway, I searched out for a new cardiologist that wasn’t under the thumb of a hospital system, which are under the thumb of government. Appointment Monday. Hospitals are taking over practices everywhere so they all have to fall in line

Seriously, wtf is going on. Why is he saying things like this? Do I have a legitimate concern here with my heart rate? What do doctors here think?

Seriously? Man up and refuse the vaccine(like a man) don’t hide behind some bullshite heart rate issue lol.

As for Omicron: per Axios:

quote:

Omicron infections are associated with a 91% reduction in risk of death compared to the Delta variant, the director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Wednesday, citing a new Kaiser Permanente Southern California study.

The big picture: The study also showed that Omicron infections were also associated with a 74% reduction in risk of going to the ICU, as well as a 53% reduction in risk of being hospitalized, Rochelle Walensky said.

Details: The study, which is yet to be peer reviewed, looked at 52,297 Omicron cases and 16,982 Delta cases. Those involved tested positive in Southern California between Nov. 30, 2021 and Jan. 1, 2022. It was also done with CDC collaboration and funding, Walensky said. No patients with Omicron in the study required mechanical ventilation.

Additionally, those with Omicron had a shorter duration in hospital stay when compared to Delta patients: "The duration of hospital stays was approximately 70% shorter, with the median of stays being 1.5 days for Omicron, compared to about five days for Delta," Walensky said. "Looking at all hospital admissions for Omicron, 90% of patients were expected to be discharged from the hospital in three days or less," she added.

I actually had this problem before the vaccine and that’s why I originally went. He said it wouldn’t be a problem. I’ve had a few episodes where my heart actually hurt for a few days since getting the shots. I told him that and he said it wasn’t my heart, which I thought was weird. He offered no other explanation and didn’t have any evidence. I know my body pretty well. It certainly felt like my heart. He was shooting down everything for some reason. I have no idea if it was related, but the whole sale rejection didn’t sit well with me

got an appointment on Monday with a private practice not controlled by a hospital. I just want a constructive, honest conversation. I want someone help me weigh my risks. Is that too much to ask?

Hell no that's not too much to ask, man.

Few and far between, but there actually are non-biased medical professionals out there that you can find, who will genuinely weigh the risk/reward factor for you.

Doctors get a lot of praise for their medical knowledge and because they've got years of college under their belts... but they're just people too. Like every other profession, you can find a shitload of doctors that are complete morons.

My PCP is a small clinic with two ladies that are PAs. They can't even prescribe narcotics (which I dig, because I don't want them anyway and too many doctors just treat every condition with Lortab and Xanax). They also happen to be the most compassionate and intelligent medical professionals I've used. If it's something beyond their ability, they've built up a big network over 20 years of trusted specialists to refer me to (proctologist, ENT, gastroenterology, etc.).

This^^^^. A shite load of doctors are going to have to make a decision going forward because the medical establishment has been exposed as pretty inefficient and monolithic, relying on the CDC, NIH and other institutions for guidance rather than using their own experiences and knowledge. I expect to see a lot more direct doctor to patient care in the coming years….this will benefit the more confident and competent medical professionals.
