What happened in NY at the Baptist Church was, first, a transgression and blasphemy against the House of God. Secondly, it was an extremely dangerous situation for the elderly, women and children at a minimum. It's my job to protect the innocent. I will do that.

I agree with all of this.
My thread was meant to provoke Christians to examine what they believe and how that fits into their everyday actions.
It’s too late to evaluate what you will do in a situation, after the situation pops up in your face.

Good point. On a side note, The religious left will always use passages such as the one you mentioned to condemn any violent response to a situation like in NY.

No doubt. They use the,” Judge Ye not” one all the time

Lol I started to reference that passage. I get sick of people living like the devil and using "Judge not lest ye be Judged."

Wonder how they explain Paul in I Cor 5 when he said "I'm not even there and I have judged him already.."

Jesus said to not let yourself be cowardly and unsettled nor be intimidated. We as Christians are to protect the weak and our brother and sisters in Christ along with our families and ourselves. We are to worship in our Fathers house and not turn it over to a den of thieves and hoodlums.

This is why cherry picking scripture from the Bible is no good

Jesus’ comments are related to a legal, or court, setting. A place where disputes are fought out.

The message here is that we can choose to diffuse rather than escalate social and legal conflict.

Violence begets more violence.

I’m not a turn the other cheek Christian. I admit my flaws.

Well, that’s more of a guideline than a rule

If I remember my Sunday School lesson, didn't Jesus make a whip, turn over tables, and cleansed the temple of bad guys ripping off the people? I don't remember anything about turning the cheek that day.

I can't speak for other places but I imagine in Acadia this would not be peacefuly recieved. Likewise, I would not expect to be able to roll into a Baptist church in the delta and bust it up without getting busted up.

These fools don't realize that blacks and whites will rally around religion against the extremists

In all cases the answer is spread the gospel. In most instances the result will be the thugs leaving the church ASAP, but the ones that remain won’t be a problem.
