Simply enforce the second amendment by removing all the unconstitutional state laws that 'infringe' on it.

You want a gun get a gun
Caught in possession of a stolen firearm min 25 yr sentence
If you break a law using a gun min 40 yr sentence
Kill somebody with a gun, death penalty.

Your gun is your safety use it to protect your life or property and you face no criminal charges

Seems like that was simple enough.

Just repeal the NFA and GCA and we'd be good.

The old Richmond protocol had great success that was exported fairly well (for a while). Certainly affected the way some professional criminals comported themselves.

I would certainly seek to remove repeat offenders with firearms for as long as possible.

Folks on here toss out the "6%" number all the time. In reality, it is probably 15% to 20% of that number responsible for a staggering portion of all violent crimes. The focus should be on:

1. Earliest possible intervention to keep this population from developing into tomorrow's gun-toting criminals

2. Identify and capture at the beginning of their criminal careers

3. Attempt rehabilitation only if a young, first-time offender. Otherwise, the focus is on segregation from society for as long as possible.

Getting the right folks off the street, as early as possible for as long as possible is the only long-term winning strategy. Literally everything else is setting bales of money on fire and trying to piss on it to extinguish it.

We have a culture issue, not a gun issue. Focus on the culture and the gun issue will fix itself.

Abolish all gun laws. They should be considered unconstitutional anyway. Every single gun law is an infringement. If they want to restrict (infringe) gun rights the only way it can be done is with another amendment to change the 2nd.

Like they did with prohibition.

Are there people out there I dont want to have a gun? Sure. The reason I dont want them to have a gun because of their past behavior. If that behavior put them in prison (or death row) fine. Because telling a criminal he cant have a gun doesnt do any good if he ignores the law.

What does work is the criminal being in prison (for life) for his prior activity.

Repeal every single gun law. Make it illegal to harm others or take their stuff. Prosecute those who harm others and take their stuff. Guns aren't even completely a 2A issue. It's about property rights. You should be able to own what you want as long as you aren't harming others.

pretty much it...

Constitutional carry is the only answer. If this isn't your answer, you hate America, you suck, and you need to unplug your head from your arse.

the repeal of The National Firearms Act of 1934. And removal of firearms from the ATF. Hell just dissolve the ATF. Make the states control the alcohol and tobacco, like it should be.

we don't need better gun legislation to decrease gun violence. Until Democrat's realize this, nothing will ever get better

The majority of crimes committed with firearms are not committed by otherwise law-abiding citizens. They're committed by criminals who don't give a shite what the gun legislation says about firearm ownership.

Maybe invest in mental health treatment and services. Maybe the inner city needs to take control of the cultural issues in their own communities. Maybe actually enforce the laws and prosecute/incarcerate criminals rather than continuing to turn them back loose on the streets to hurt more people. There's a lot of things that would help decrease gun violence. Making it more difficult for law abiding citizens to protect themselves isn't one of them

Shall Not Infringe

It would look a lot like this.

Enforce the laws on the books: murder, attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, armed robbery.

Massive mandatory minimums for felonious possession and other crimes aggravated by the use of a firearm. First offense armed robbery should net like 20 years in prison without parole. Gun crimes, even less serious ones like brandishing, need to completely upend people's lives.

Harsher sentences for gun crimes. Then enforce those sentences.

Every bullet and shell casing has a serial number. If found used in the commission of a crime, purchaser would have a hell of a case to prove they didn’t do it.

You could not under any circumstances let your ammo get stolen.

How about this?

A well regulated militia being necessary for the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.

Abolish the ATF, and any rule, law, or regulation that violates the above.

Take over Haiti.

Take every person caught using a gun in the commission of a felony to Haiti and drop them off for a minimum 10 year incarceration.

Add people convicted of heinous crimes and sexual abuse of children.

Give the Dominican Republic enough money to secure their border a la East Germany.

Enforce all gun laws in US

BTW the total population incarcerated in the US is 2,086,500.
