Long term

The countries with Nukes see them as fair game to use in conflict

India and Pakistan would be the first to wipe each other off the map

The entire world loses its collective shite, and kicks off a massive multinational war in which the US will receive minimal support.

We wouldn’t drop a nuke,

There are much cleaner weapons available to the US.

Want to be the bad guy in the history books?

Because that would make the entire world turn against us.

Would never happen. We have far better weapons for a scenario like this.

Ramifacations to Tehran? Severe.

Seriously, Tehran is NOT a nuclear target unless the unthinkable happens.

However, if a devastating attack that kills thousands of Americans does happen, I can see a nuclear strike on the Iranian version of Hiroshima or Nagasaki.

Not much, it would just unite the rest of the world against us.

There is no benefit for the US to do this.

Americans would cry , because that wouldn't be politically correct.

They would rather risk the lives of the soldiers in a long lasting ground war.

just causally asking what the ramifications would be if we dropped a nuke on a capital city with a population of 9 million all because of a handful of missiles were sent out way without any real proof they did legit material damage of any kind

We could probably skip the nuke and just aim our earthquake machine in their direction and blame it on global warming.
