They're idiots.

Putin's legacy is not complicated. He's a strong nationalist who felt the dissolution of the USSR was a mistake due to glasnost-era policies. He openly criticized the leaders who allowed former Soviet states to forge independent nations and has worked strongly to do two things:

1. Rebuild the Russian economy. He had a lot of success early but things started falling apart.
2. Rebuild the former Soviet expanse.

#2 has been ramped up because #1 hit the wall. Russia has had negative population growth for years, the writing is on the wall.

He's built a lot of his reputation on a return to communist-USSR glory. On fixing the mistakes of Gorbachev and Yelstin. But the juice is running out a little bit. These moves are an attempt to restore what once was.

Worst communist ever. He created the most billionaires and millionaires in Russia's history. If anything he's running Russia like a monarchy)combined with oligarchy with the distinct elite classes and peasants, and he's a defacto Czar.

So basically like every other "communist" leader.

Putin is waging this war because he doesn’t believe NATO wants to fight him.

So saying it’s because It’s to keep NATO from fighting him is bullshite.

Also, Russia saying they “dissolved” the Warsaw Pact, like Eastern Germany was wanted to be in it in the first place is bullshite.

To Russians? Or the West?

If he can come to some peace treaty with Ukraine and take more of their land and the world removes sanctions then he’ll probably be ok at home

He’ll continue to be the boogie man for the west.

Who is gonna aid them this time. Poor arse rat with a small economy and a dwindling population that doesn't even like him. Can't use the nukes either unless you want to commit suicide.

Think of this as Putin's Cuban blockade, however, a bit more bloody and deeper into the entrails of the deep state. A simple protection of his buffer zones, just at JFK did in the Cuban crisis. He's invading yes, but this is a protection zone for the Ruskies against a strongly anti-Russian movement and also against a hotbed for corruption from the west and NWO globalists. I can't blame him but at the same time, this isn't some kind of rally for Russia argument. This is a time to eat popcorn and let things sort out. My understanding is that the evil people that have overtaken the Ukraine through globalist insurrections over the past couple decades have way more blood on their hands in the Ukraine than do the Russians.

Time will tell.
An unwitting PotatoBrain will have a lot to do with that legacy.

PotatoBrain brought on the Ukraine situation. It's led to Putin solidifying trade and economic relationships with India, China, Iran, Brazil, etc.

Meanwhile PotatoBrain managed to alienate Saudi and the UAE to historical levels, and they too are leaning toward Putin. As he alienated long-allied international oil exporters, he hamstrung our own energy industry.

So we are opposing a very competent, very calculating tyrant from a standpoint of self-imposed weakness. That juxtaposition will leave Putin stronger than he might have been.

Putin still has a few more economic stones to cast our way as well.

This motherfricker is smart. At one point or another a great number of people on this board have lauded statements he has made regarding US or World politics/social issues.

He is also super prideful and egotistic. I cannot see him going down without him achieving whatever he wants and then some at most any cost. I firmly believe that before he ultimately fails to the point of waiving the proverbial white flag, he will take everyone down with him - everyone. You don't have his status as a dictator and country, and have your arse embarrassed on a global scale until your natural end. Period.

There's a lot more to this, but suffice to say most of us are aware of those situations.

The "no fly zone" policy will be a tipping point as well. One trigger happy pilot that breaches (Russia etal) or engages a breach (NATO)can get this thing going hot real quick.

I agree with a lot of Scott Adam's points on what will result from Putin's folly.

quote:

Russia's economic future:

1. Withdrawal of credible accounting firms makes investment in Russian companies too dicey.

2. Insurance companies refuse to insure because of nation-level risk.

3. Russian banking data passes through Chinese bank servers. No one wants that.

4. Uncertainty causes domestic spending to drop.

5. Russian personal net worth plunges to zero.

6. Western buyers of Russian energy surprise the world in how quickly they create substitutes.

7. Russia's energy economy becomes "captured" by China, with all that implies.

8. Inability to import new parts and new technology causes Russian industries to disintegrate.

9. Russian military spending exceeds the economy's capacity to support it, causing regime change.

10. China installs a puppet government in Moscow and turns Russia into a gas station.

11. Russia becomes irrelevant over time as greener technologies dominate.

12. Putin is remembered as the second Russian leader to destroy Russia by prioritizing military over economy.

Putin is an a-hole and is setting up his people to fail.

The same can be said about the a-hole Joe Biden.

They both deserve each other.
