Well, here ya go. Just as I thought, crazy overbearing Christian parents created this monster. Clearly a form of mental child abuse. Let the kid discover religion on his own instead of brainwashing him.

quote:
A long-time Pflugerville resident, Conditt grew up in a religious family and was homeschooled, along with his three siblings.
The"very conservative" and "loving" family didn't want their children to see "the bad stuff in society," said one man who worked with Conditt's father and spent time at their home.
"It was a very 'us versus them' type of household," he said. "I'm guessing that was a catalyst that led Mark to believe what he thought."
The man said he regularly spent time at the East Pfluger Street family home for get-togethers that he said were "not a cult" but may have been mistaken for one."They were always mentoring us on how to raise our family and how to be good parents to our kids in the society they lived in," he added.
"They were always trying to help people achieve more, as long as it fell in line with what they believed in," he said.
The family was also known on the street for their large religious gatherings at home every Sunday, said one long-time neighbor.
"I don't know if it was a Bible study or a church service," said the neighbor, who recalled cars lining the street every week. "They just always had a bunch of kids there all the time."

So you think all children raised in Christian households and are home schooled are like this guy?

Religion only matters in cases like this if the perp is Christian.
When’s the last time we got a full bio on the lifestyle of one of the domestic Muslim terrorists here or in the U.K? Or was there a big “don’t jump to conclusions” or “but Christianity is a religion of peace” part of the report that wasn’t copied?

How would you know? This is never reported or confirmed by the media.

Better to be seen as mentally ill by someone who has made poor life choices and ended up in Alaska, than to truly be mentally ill.

I get the feeling that if the dude's FB or Instagram included a bunch of conservative, Christian, Pro Trump stuff it would not have been deleted, but, rather, featured as the lead story on every mass media outlet known to Humankind -- for the next month.

No not at all. But I do believe that for any religion when you instill beliefs in a child before they are able to make reason out of them you can create a time bomb. Basically, absolutism can be very dangerous in any form, whether it be in religion, politic, or whatever. Most of the time the kids will outgrow and develop their independent beliefs but in rare cases like this, the kid was incubated in a perfect petri dish of craziness based on distorted religious beliefs.

I notice a lot of raging militant atheist types come from backgrounds like this as well. At this point, I don't know if that's any more meaningful than any of this. Nobody seems to know right now what this dude was doing for the past 6 years.
I guess, I will wait to draw any conclusions. You run with this, though.

Yet this exact thing has happened hundreds of millions of times over the course of this country's history without the same results.

Well then it looks like religion and homeschooling aren't the issue here now doesn't it?

Juneau has more restaurants per capita, more coffee houses per capita than any city in the country
It has more millionaires per capita, is a state capital, gets a million tourists into the summer and is a fricking progressive political city
It shows how little of the world you know outside of whatever backwater you hail from.
