What President waged a war that was overwhelmingly unpopular in the nation’s largest urban cities?
What President unleashed combat troops from the battlefield to assault citizen protestors in New York City?
What President unilaterally suspended the writ of habeas corpus and arrested thousands of private citizens in the dark of night and held them in political prison camps?
What President ignored a Supreme Court Justice’s ruling that the suspension of the writ of habeas corpus was unConstitutional and should be reinstated?
What president had a newspaper editor arrested for criticizing the suspension of the writ of habeas corpus?
What President had a sitting member of Congress arrested for criticizing the suspension of the writ of habeas corpus?
What President had his soldiers bombard and destroy newspaper buildings and newspaper printing plants that were critical of the war effort or even dared questioned the President’s policies?
What President was involved in telegraphic censorship of newspapers critical of the President’s policies?
What President declared he would abandon the U.S. Constitution to save the Union?
What President said he cared not in freeing the slaves but only in saving the Union?
What President is uniformly hailed by the leaders of the Uniparty® as one of the greatest Presidents ever for “saving the Union?”

It has no value right now. However, I predict that one day history will record that flag as the last American flag to go down after a bitter, years long bloody fight.
The more RECENT American flags - -
- - I predict will Surrender without a fight.

I had ancestors that fought under that flag so it has importance to me but I have relatives that fought under the American flag as well. Both are important to me.
I think a lot of us did.
Going to Gettysburg on the 4th of July is a great experience. A great many in both the Confederate and Union re-enactor camps had ancestors on both sides.

What President arrested members of the Maryland legislature as they met to consider articles of secession?

Anyone see the ad banner at Talladega today? One intangible value of the flag is that it has become a form of protest against the PC pablum of the progs. That is it’s main attraction today.

It's not for you to determine what value it holds for anyone else.

I didn't try to determine what it meant to anyone. I just wanted to know why some people are so hot and heavy about keeping it on taxpayer funding entities.
I don't care if its on somebody's truck, tshirt, hat.. hell, paint your house in the stars and bars and I'll damn fight somebody that tries to take away your right to do it.
But on a state flag? In a court house? Why?

I have zero love for the confederacy or the cause for which that flag flew. However, it does have value as an historical artifact. It's a part of the fabric of this nation--you have to take the good and the bad. It all contributed to the America we know today. Also, from a vexillology standpoint, it has tremendous value.
Yeah but does it really lose that value when you stop flying it at a state capital or bad it from a NASCAR event?

I still haven't had a single person answer my question about why it wasn't a travesty that Tivoli Circle's history was DESTROYED by the arrival of Lee's Circle and the statue of Lee.
