the other link posted said she didn't go to school until a son's learning disability was fixed

i imagine she went to some private/for profit degree mill and racked up a bunch of SL debt for the degree, given that information

There are more than 3 signs, so you too must be suffering from a stroke.

That other article directly conflicts with this statement...it says she drove an hour and fifteen minutes ONE WAY to get to the first high school she was teaching at before she moved over to this one.

That woman is a complete loser who doesn't how to translate her time/effort into money.

She likes doing what she likes to do and think the world owes her something for doing it.

That's not how it works.

I've seen twice the attempt to make teacher pay a federal issue.

One was at a Jeb Hensarling town hall, the other I honestly can't remember where.

Both times, though, the speaker was quick to shut it down by rightfully pointing out this is a state and local issue. Hensarling seemed very prepared.

All of this tells me it's a concerted effort to blame Republicans in federal office.

Teachers live the life of Reilly. Easy work, no stress, exorbitant salaries. Is that the narrative?

You're often off point, but if you're interested in "the narrative," let me enlighten you on hers.

"We should not have have a second job to support the fact that we love teaching. Dentists, doctors, attorneys, accountants, nurses and all other occupations that have education commiserate with ours do not have to work a part time job to make it pay-check-to-paycheck"

The above is her words from her Facebook page on August 12th. Want to talk about "narratives?" The lady is "a teacher" & doesn't know that "commiserate" is not "commensurate." Her narrative is that she's entitled to more simply because she's a teacher. She believes that she's as educated as a doctor or dentist. I believe she's ignorant & ill-informed.

But like most liberals, they see the answer as being more money coming in will solve their problems of having too much money going out.

I wanted to be a teacher once upon a time. Then I realized if I wanted a family, 4 bedroom house, Z71, hunting lease, a couple of beach trips a year and a nice steak on Friday nights, I was going to have to do something with a more strenuous time commitment.

Progressivism is so pitiful. In every single respect it’s just pitiful.

I keep seeing people saying over and over how noble it is to be a teacher. Why?

I'm serious, why is it noble?

The only reason it was noble was folks willing to take lower pay to be a teacher. Folks were willing to make less money because it was important to them to teach kids. That was the noble part.

Are trash collectors noble. They do a job that most people don't want to do but it is pretty damn important for the health and happiness of society.

Really not being a clown here, but this woman and Time magazine are full of shite.

Teachers make a living wage. She should be able to survive on her salary. If she can't she needs to find a better job, just like every other human being on the planet.

And if they won't she me her expenses and liabilities, then I'm calling total bullshite.

There are only three states where the average teacher makes less than the average HOUSEHOLD income.

I volunteered at the WWII museum for 8 hours each Saturday and loved my "work". Drove from BR to NOLA and back every time I went to the Museum working as a Docent. Which was 6 years. I "worked" there up until I moved to Portland,OR. I wasn't even a History teacher like she is.

Gotta be Trump's fault. Right?

No. This is a national problem which reflects a lack of value placed on the education of our next generation of citizens. If Trump is a part of that negative attitude, then he is part of the problem, not the solution. But this isn't "Trump's fault."

What problem?

Teachers are paid extremely well and probably over paid for their qualifications and the product we are getting in public schools.
