"There" sure are. You should probably shut up.
Lol.... Your a fricking idiot!!!!!! Seriously....
You can't refute my argument, so you attack a word my damn phone spell checked without my noticing?????
If I were you, thank God I'm not, I would never humiliate myself in such a way.
If your too stupid or shallow to discuss the point I've made, then just remain silent.
There's a Proverb that's says, " even a fool may appear wise if he keeps his mouth shut".

I live down the road from University of West Indies, a University whose credits are accepted by most universities in the US so a good school, about 15,000 kids.
I was at a bar down the road and saw one girl next to me adding three digits on a piece of paper and she could not "carry" the 10 to the next column, for two numbers that could easily be done in her head.
I mentioned it to the bar owner and he said a girl was in the other day and wanted a guiness and I told her it was 12 bucks (about two US), she said TWO DOLLARS? He said okay Ill give you two for 5 bucks and she said GREAT.

There's a reason for this trend.

The woman was white, probably around 30, assistant manager was a white male, looked to be about 21. The other manager type was a black woman appeared to be in her 50s.
The teenage girl cashier was white and the bagboy was black.

The kicker to that whole situation is that the younger generation thinks they have superior intelligence because they know all the ins and outs of social media technology, but most of them couldn’t pour piss out of a boot with the directions written on the heel.

Public schools are not designed to actually produce critically thinking individuals.
They are designed to get you just trained enough to be a tax-bag for the ruling classes.

If we ever have a SHTF situation, these people are going to be a bigger problem than the bad guys.

Pro-tip: school isn't about "learning" anymore.
(At least like you expect it to mean.)

People falling prey to the propaganda campaign lamenting that “college/education is a scam” doesn’t help, either.
To be clear, overpriced, boutique degrees in largely unmarketable fields like feminine studies from name brand universities ARE a scam.
Learning is not. Education is not.
What we’ve got now is an entire generation who doesn’t value learning of any kind because everything can be “Googled” being goaded on by Marxists in education who like that mindset just fine because it renders already malleable young minds absolutely powerless against the power of suggestion wielded in many public school classrooms.
The current power structure can mark itself safe from popular pushback for the foreseeable future . . . as was intended.

In the 4th grade (and I've written about this before on TD) I taught my daughter the multiplication and division tables. I did this out to six numbers and drilled her with rewards for answering correctly. The school was teaching to a 100's chart, using 0-10 columns and rows. 'New' math.
I received a call for a meeting. In the meeting I was asked to stop instructing her on my own. Why?
I told the principal, who attended the meeting with the teacher, they needed an advanced math class, then, because I was not going to stop home educating my daughter. He said they didn't have the funds. So my wife and I discussed this on an agenda at the next PTA meeting. Turned out there were 6-7 other kids where the parents were dissatisfied at how slowly the math skills were being developed, and were also home schooling to advance their kids' math skills. The PTA President, my wife and I, and the parents we spoke to at that meeting, we set up a meeting with the school board administrator and demanded a better class for these kids and threatened to take the issue to local DFW TV News to interview the parents and the kids and let the news broadcast that we were being asked to hold our kids back from advancing.
We got an advanced class instructor. My daughter graduated at OU with a degree in Finance.

Our public schools are factories of conformist thought.

Is it worse that it was back then? Not really in my observation.
The data shows that there’s fewer kids on grade level for math or reading versus the seventies.
So you’re wrong.
Again.

I can remember my mother complaining about the same thing when I was in high school…I am 60, and she is 86.
It started in the 80s and has gotten worse because these kids have relied so much on calculators and computers. Their brains are virtually useless.
When I was driving around the rural south in the late 80s as an auditor who audited small banks, when the radio could not pick up a decent station, I was calculating miles per gallon and ETAs in my head.
