To a certain degree yes. If the legislature slaps him down he is dead in the water for 3.5 more years.

I have been looking also. I expected a house vote by now.

It’s in the full house now. They may bring it up today or just hold it depending on the announcement. It depends on the language of the order. It can pass both chambers by friday if needed.

They may also delay / slow walk it to keep the gov from delaying phase 2.

How is he not "dead in the water" now? Even without this whole situation. The Republicans hold a super-majority in the senate and a majority in the House. He still has his veto power. But that was the case BEFORE Covid. He can't run again in 4 years, so I don't know how this really changes much unless you though the Republicans were going to work with him over these next 4 years and now they won't

I’m afraid this turns into a truly political power play, especially if the legislature has threatened him. He’s very likely to cal their bluff just for chest thumping to see if they have the balls to go ahead with overruling him. Then he’s got the ultimate out as far as blame to any single thing that goes wrong during the recovery.
- Spike in cases? GOP made me open Early
- Lost federal money? GOP made me open Early
- Economic recovery delayed? GOP made me open early
-Etc etc.

Yep. It may be in his own political self interests to slow walk it. A gop takeover gives them 100% of the blame and he still gets the federal money.

This will allow history to be rewritten blaming the whole economy and every death on the gop.

Do you have a link for that? TIA

When it does, the governor plans to ease restrictions on some public places: churches and more retailers will be allowed to open statewide at that time, including hair and nail salons and some restaurant dine-in services. They'll all be limited to only 25% of their legal occupancy rates, however.

LINK

Gyms are part of WH Phase 1, I think it’s limited to 10 people, not 25% occupancy

I am hoping he allows 25% inside & 25% outside for restaurants

Gyms are part of phase 1, but I’m willing to wager he don’t open gyms next week.

this has been debunked if you paid attention to the house committee hearings last week. Miguez confirmed it.Was posted in game thread we had that day. No fed money will be lost if they had to act.

Well I just got called into a unscheduled 11am Zoom so there's most likely opening next week. I'll report back in a few if I hear anything.

Agreed. And what do you know when he extends it to June 1 it’ll be start of a predicted very active Hurricane Season

Wait until cities around the state and country deny New Orleans evacuees entry from fleeing a Cat 3/4 storm. Guarantee that Destroya and Johnny Bel have no plans for that scenario

Places aren't going to comply with those occupancy limits. At least I hope not.

Absolutely nothing has changed between this announcement and the last one.

There was no reason not to open up on the 1st. We need to open up today. But, he needs to be questions as to what has changed even if that happens.

We are planning to return to the office on 5/18, but it all depends on the JBE 2:30 announcement, so nothing inside from me.

Was just told in a Zoom meeting we are def not complying with the occupancy limit, we are just going to set up workspaces with social distancing and are being provided masks which are mandatory, meetings will be at our desk via Zoom rather than in the same room, but if JBE opens up 15th, we are returning to the office at 100% capacity.

But the funny part is when we open and cases start falling (like Ga) and JBE will only be able to complain about those federal dollars him boys can’t collect.
