While I hate fat people and they disgust me, I don’t want the gov doing this as it’s a slippery slope until liberals ban meat.
Also the log cabin syrup is better than maple syrup from Costco

Sure, if the goal is to develop colorectal as well as other cancers. The positive correlation between red meat consumption and human illness is overwhelming-- google it.

Pretending you know this absolutely, can prove it, can fend off manipulated studies to show the alternative, and can prevent government from using said manipulated studies to justify its use this now acceptable power is also the height of stupidity.

Europeans in general have better quality food overall. I avoid HCFS if it's a cheap substitute for juice or something, just like I avoid oils that are used as a cheap substitute for cream, but that's not known to be an actual calorie swap. Maybe if we have higher GI gaps, it might make a difference.
I'd rather we ban Red Dye #40. More reported health risks from that, and it's banned in many places, and adds nothing except visual appeal.

I don't get your point. He believes govt shouldn't tell you what you can put in your body, you say they already do.
Is your point that they already crush the pretend veil of liberty? If so, you are correct.
Many of us will continue to believe its not appropriate.

It’s not government job to force people into making good personal decisions. If you’re a grown as adult and can’t figure out how to feed yourself—government won’t be able to “fix” you.

sugary sodas are the closest thing to poison the populace consumes. With that being said, the government should ban
Fixed it for you.
Our government is of the people, by the people and for the people. A critical function of government is to maintain the general welfare, which includes promoting good public health and eliminating unhealthy practices such as poor nutrition and the consumption of highly refined, highly synthesized, even toxic products intended for human consumption.

We keep saving people that natural selection would have prevented from surviving years ago.
Let people choose. Start penalizing parents by charging more or insurance or deducting welfare or fat kids. When it starts costing people, they'll start losing weight

I agree in theory and am worried about the slippery slope effect, but when I have to pay, it's a different story.
As an owner of a business, I pay 80% of an employee's and 60% of their dependents' health insurance. In addition, we ALL are subsidizing medicare/medicaid through taxes.
Shouldn't we, as those who actually pay the bills, have the right to say certain items, such as high fructose corn syrup or GMOs, which have ZERO health benefits are off-limits, especially healthier alternatives exists? Come on. Coke's original formula put cocaine in the drink. And somehow we determined that this was a bad thing and changed course.
Ask any doctor and they will tell you that sugar is probably the worst thing on the planet to ingest.

Transfer the cost to overweight people, and stop socializing the costs
I guarantee you if THEY paid, they would lose weight.

Why on Earth would I support the government banning such a thing?

Definitely. And if we had a population which actually communicated with its elected representatives, it could actually happen.
Right now we elect persons to send to Washington, then they never hear from us again. They only hear from lobbyists

HFCS is horrible, but I don't see what it has to do with national defense, border protection, or interstate commerce.

High Fructose Corn syrup and many other ingredients should be treated the same as tobacco or worse.
