It really has been surprising that no state gvnrs/AG haven't gone after the feds for the treatment of their citizens. Really puts a damper on thinking States can/will stand up to the feds.

When was Nixon arrested?

When was Nixon pardoned?

Thanks and I’ll hang up and listen.

I’m curious if these people are ignorant of the exact timing of when power is actually transferred, ignorant of history, or just plain ignorant.

What crime was Trump going to pardon the J6ers for? Did Trump know they even committed a crime?

I hate to disappoint you but Trump is not clairvoyant.

I’m not sure if one can blanketly pardon an unidentifiable mass of people. It’s certainly an interesting question. I don’t think it’s quite analogous to the Nixon deal, though.

I am sure of the sort of conniptions that would have ensued had he attempted such a thing. Hell, that may have been the lynchpin to success in that final impeachment attempt.

Good thing he went with the selfless action of leaving his supporters to rot in prison to ensure his further political ambitions.

Your example is a pardon granted over 2 years past the date of the crime as to why Trump should have been able to pardon anonymous people in the 2 weeks between J6 and Biden being sworn in?

He could've tried. The President's pardon power is absolute. Even if it did end up causing the final impeachment to be successful is that not worth it to save so many patriots from political imprisonment?

And yet they’re going to tell us how it is.

This is completely irrelevant but I am not surprised you don’t know this.

He could have issued a blanket pardon to those not even arrested or accused yet. carter did for draft dodgers and that was upheld by legal challenges.

I missed the clause of the constitution that said the president must wait 2 years after a crime is committed to offer an unconditional pardon.

The only clause I could find was:
quote:

"The President shall have Power to grant Reprieves and Pardons for Offenses against the United States, except in Cases of Impeachment."
Perhaps I’m missing part of it. Could you share that with me please? Thanks sweetheart.

Now that you have learned that Trump absolutely without question could have issued a blanket pardon…

What specifically can Ron Desantis as a State Governor do for Federal Defendants?

Carter issued a blanket pardon to Vietnam draft dodgers, including those who had not yet been charged with anything.
