Too many fat kids' parents whined that it was unfair that Porky never won. I remember that test when I was a kid. I never won, but thought it was fun.

You can't allow chemicals in a nation's food that are guaranteed to make most of the people in it obese and keep expecting any degree of physical fitness. America chose Big Food. It's doing wonders for our national health care costs.

My next door neighbor is in charge of the PE curriculum for the county, I asked her a couple of weeks ago and she said that 2 or 3 kids had serious injuries straining during the pull ups so school systems stopped doing the testing.
They are now trying to build some type of program seeing how many times a kid can run the length of the basketball court in 10 minutes.
In actuality, I think they just wanted to remove competition.

I will say, only a few in my class failed the mile run in under 10 min. They'd probably still fail it today. Majority of my class was in fairly decent shape.

I teach elementary pe and we still Do the test, it's not an official test anymore but the high achieving kids love it. Kids that get presidential get their names painted on the wall. We had a lame principal once try to get rid of it but got too much backlash from the community and had to back off.

I always hated the day we had to do the physical fitness tests in P.E. Not because I had problems doing the test, I just was mad that I couldn’t play football or kickball that day.

Hell, I talked to an Army ROTC instructor who said a lot of today's recruits can't do 10 sit ups in basic training. It's bad out there.
