What happened to the President’s Physical Fitness Test?

I know it was a different era but when I was a kid it was a big deal. Every campaign season they would even release the test to all the schools so the kids could compare themselves to the candidates.
I think JFK started it and the last one I remember completing it was maybe Clinton?
Another tradition we’ve let slip. Maybe a symbol of a simpler time.

My mom still has my Presidential Fitness Award with a copy of George W Bush’s signature framed in my bedroom

I think one of the debates should be in a high school gym and they have to run through the test on live tv.
They can each choose one person to help them with holding their feet down for pushups and putting the fist on the ground for sit-ups and stuff like that.

I was in middle school during the first round of Bush II and we took the test in PE.
I remember the blue patch was for the Presidents Physical Fitness and the red patch for National Physical (I believe).
We used to have the patches sewed onto our PE shorts to show off lol.

I always got the red patch.

I did well on most of it, except damn pull ups. My favorite was the sit and reach, I actually held the record in my high school’s history for males. I could hang there on that bar for 4-5 minutes; but never could pull all the way over.
