Why would they? It's clever lawyering by the accuser's legal team. They have put Trump in the precarious position of having to prove a negative. If Trump argues that these women are indeed liars (truth being an absolute defense to a defamation claim), then he has to show that he never groped, touched, kissed, etc. these women, i.e., prove a negative. The smart move is to get this dismissed by arguing that he has immunity from this type of suit. The fact that they haven't raised truthfulness as a defense is not as telling as you think it is.

In the Deep South in 1979, any good ole boy or redneck would likely not have been charged or convicted with killing a man that was molesting someone's kid. The "he needed killin" defense was still commonplace back then.

They are pursuing lawsuits against him.
I think it's pretty telling that TRUMP has gone from promising to sue all of the women and the Times for libel to now trying to claim Presidential immunity in order to AVOID having these matters discussed in court.
Trump is the one trying to avoid giving these accusations a day in court, and he's doing so after initially boasting that HE was the one that would initiate legal proceedings. Pretty damn pathetic.

Right now the Democrats have their hands full with the Russia investigation and trashing Donna Brazile.
Once Tump is officially cleared of collusion, then we’ll see the return of these women claiming Trump assaulted them.

Truth is an affirmative defense in a defamation case. Raising that defense does nothing to shift the burden required to be shown by the plaintiff.
If your client is being sued for defamation and you can prove truthfulness you really should make that argument.

It's more complicated than that. Exactly what evidence could support a truth defense to such vague and unsubstantiated accusations? How can Trump prove that he did not kiss and grab Zervos "when she went to his bungalow at the Beverly Hills Hotel in 2007 to discuss a possible job at the Trump Organization"? It's not even as if she's narrowed it to any specific day, which would make it easier to refute.
In this situation, the truth defense is the least tenable position when the other arguments would preclude even getting into that.
