The system for years has been for Dems to line the community leaders/celebrities pockets to influence the community to vote Democratic no matter what. Black culture follows them no matter what. I can't wait for Biden to be interviewed after he announces his VP. He will gaff and actually say that the most important qualities were that she was a woman and black. You're absolutely right, but you forgot the best part which is when he also lets us know exactly how her inherently lacking any sense of individuality and diversity was what rocketed her passed the Hispanic woman he was thinking hard about. If you want to play identity politics, black women are the absolute worst politicians and leaders. If you want to pick a candidate based solely on race and gender, that is the last group from which one should want to choose. As a group, they are the least likeable people in the country as shown in surveys.

Apparently there is a lot of tug-of-war behind the scenes in the Biden camp. The East Coasters are all Rice. Her supporters are dogging Harris at every turn. The West Coasters are more in the Harris camp and are slamming Rice behind the scenes (both have a lot of baggage, no question).

The "rational", deal makers have tried to advance a "compromise" choice - Whitmer or Buttigeig - both of whom are considered less polarizing (at least nationally).

So, the black leadership decided to nip this in the bud - pick one and we'll rally behind either. Do not NOT pick a black woman - or else.
