Securities fraud
Elaborate on this.
Paxton was indicted in July 2015 on two counts of first-degree felony securities fraud and a lesser charge of failing to register as an investment adviser. The charges stemmed from accusations that in 2011 he solicited investors for a tech company (Servergy) without disclosing that the company was paying him a commission. He also faced a separate federal civil case brought by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), which was dismissed by a federal judge in March 2017.
After nearly nine years of legal delays, Paxton entered into a pretrial intervention agreement in March 2024 to resolve the state criminal charges.
Under the agreement, Paxton was required to pay $270,000 to $300,000 in restitution to the investors, complete 100 hours of community service, and complete 15 hours of legal ethics training.
Paxton did not plead guilty as part of the deal. Upon fulfilling the requirements within the allotted 18-month timeframe, the charges were formally dismissed.

Well, tell us - are you really a conservative or even a centrist that's stupid enough to be confused about who to vote for?

You can no longer vote for the person. You have to vote for the party.
If your views are aligned with the Democratic Socialists who espouse the Official DSA statements including abolishing the U.S. Senate, replacing the offices of the presidency and Supreme Court, offering blanket amnesty to illegal immigrants, abolishing prisons (“as part of a long-term program”), having the government own most large corporations, creating transgender sanctuary cities, defunding the police and eliminating “the entire global system of capital,” among many other rather crazy ideas then vote for a Democrat.
If your views align with the Republican Party's official platform, which supports:
Upholding the U.S. Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and the separation of powers.
Protecting freedom of speech, freedom of religion, and the right to bear arms.
Securing America's borders and enforcing existing immigration laws.
Reducing government spending, waste, and excessive regulation.
Lowering taxes and protecting American workers and businesses.
Supporting domestic energy production and American manufacturing.
Supporting law enforcement, public safety, and accountability for violent criminals.
Protecting Social Security and Medicare.
Keeping biological males out of women's sports.
Restoring parental rights and local control of education.
Maintaining a strong national defense and protecting American sovereignty.
Preserving the constitutional structure of our government and the rule of law.
Then vote Republican.
The choice is about which party's stated policies more closely reflect your beliefs, values, and vision for America's future.

So even the Feds acknowledged they had no case. A non-complex case with solid evidence does not take 10 years to resolve once indicted.
The crime he was accused of was legally accepting payment in exchange for recruiting investors. His payment for the commission was stock, not cash.
He did not disclose his receipt of stock to investors. That’s the alleged crime he was not convicted of.
An easy case like that took almost 10 years to resolve?

So the multiple prosecutors knew better than to take it to trial after almost 10 years? And in those 10 years even the Biden administration bailed on attempting to take it to trial?

Let me break it down for you in words you can understand: you have spent quite a long time trying to convince others to not support Paxton. By convincing others to not vote for Paxton you are increasing the likelihood of Talarico winning, surely someone of your moral character can understand that

Talarico voted multiple times to let violent criminals out of jail with no cash bail.
Talarico voted against mandatory sentences for human smugglers.
Talarico co-wrote a bill to end qualified immunity for police officers.
Talarico voted against expanding rights for victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking.
Talarico voted against billions of dollars to secure the Texas border.
Talarico said "it's time to tear down" ICE.
He voted against requiring local police to work with federal border enforcement.
Talarico supports using taxpayer dollars to pay for sex change surgeries and puberty blockers for minors. He even said parents who oppose gender reassignment surgeries are “abusive for sure.”
Better? Talarico is also AWFUL.
When Texas passed a law protecting parents from abuse charges for refusing to change their child's gender identity, Talarico voted NO.

I think it's because you ignore the big picture stuff - socialism v capitalism - that has posters thinking you're a Dem.

On this forum, any disparaging comments about a republican candidate automatically paints one as a democratic socialist. I know this.
The Clan like behavior here is amusing and embarrassing. People here act like they are independent thinkers when they blindly support the elephant or the donkey without any critical mindset.
One can hate the Democrats and can hate the Republicans at the same time. It's not one or the other.

That's not what's happening here. Don't pat yourself on the back too quickly for being clever.

That's right, but here's the tell (about you). You can hate the Republicans but that doesn't change the fact that supporting Dems is supporting a party that is majority socialist (as self-identified, by the way).
So I'm right there with you hating Republicans. But if you're seriously considering voting for Dems (or not voting to keep Dems from power), you are supporting socialism. Nothing clever about that.
