I believe that African Americans, of all the non white groups in this country, have done the poorest job of assimilating. And they've been here the longest, whether you start the clock at the very beginning or whether you start it in 1964.

Who says "they're stuck in poverty?"

Middle class mobility for blacks and hlack wealth is at all time highs in this country and there isn't another country in the world where blacks have more wealth or more political power.

Sure there's an underclass and criminal class but they're far outnumbered by working class and middle class AA's that are sharing in the American dream.

Yep, No racism in this thread at all.

Maybe that's what they want to change?

from a 2016 article, questions for Black Lives Matter:

quote:

quote:
Do you want white policemen excluded from black neighborhoods?

The available answers are “yes,” and “no.” I do not mean to be abrupt about this, but vague considerations of abstract justice, alleged discrimination, and racism do not provide usable answers. So, do you want white cops pulled from black neighborhoods, or not? It’s one or the other.

quote:
Do you want any policemen in your neighborhoods?

Here again a clear answer is needed. I have no stake in the question and do not want to impose my standards on you. Yet a concrete policy must be either no police, or police of some kind. Which?

quote:
Do blacks want to recruit, train, and discipline police forces of blacks only in their neighborhoods?

Again, your choice. I do not presume to prescribe for you. However, it would eliminate complaints of racism. Should this plan be adopted, black forces would receive the same funding as white, the same pensions and benefits, so there would be no question of discrimination. They would better understand a black population. But do as you like. Just tell me, specifically, what it is that you want.

quote:
What laws do you want cops to enforce in your neighborhoods?

Specifically what laws? Do you want the police to arrest crack dealers? Yes, or no. Again, I don’t care, and do not tell you what to do.

Yet cops need to know what they are expected to do. Should they stop people drinking in public, or allow it? Dealing drugs? Illegal parking? Public urination? Looting? Prostitution? I don’t care. Make any decision you like, but tell the cops clearly, and do not penalize them for doing what you tell them to do.

quote:
What should cops do when a criminal resists arrest?

This is an important question, in fact the important question. Nearly all of the complaints of shootings and beatings have involved resistance to arrest. It becomes explosive when white cops are involved. Here we need a clear answer. A cop cannot obey a vague abstraction.

Let us suppose that in a black neighborhood a cop sees a wanted drug dealer, rapist, killer, or burglar. He says, “You are under arrest,” and the rapist or wanted armed robber or coke dealer says, “frick off, white boy.”

What does BLM want the cop to do? Nothing? Something? What? Specifically, what? This is not a philosophical question. A cop in an actual situation has to do something, or nothing. I don’t care which. You tell me, and I will support your decision. But the cop has to know what is expected of him.

quote:
What does BLM want black cops to do?

This is your business, not mine, but you might think about it from the cop’s point of view. How should a black cop respond to resistance?

This is something I wrote up as part of my family tree research:

Z E XXXX, according to the 1850 U.S. Federal Census – Slave Schedules, owned 40 slaves while living in the “Eastern Division, Monroe, Mississippi.” (In 1850, the Census indicated he owned 32 slaves.)

In the 1870 U.S. Federal Census for Monroe, Township 12, ZE was shown as a 66 year-old farmer with real estate valued at $1,500 and personal estate of $480. Mary, was shown as a 63 year old with a profession of “keeping house.”

Considering a slave cost $800 in 1860 per historical records, any wealth my ancestor had was completely gone by 1870. Based on today's money, $1,500 meant he had a net work of about $39k in today's money. Not bad for the day, but not generational money like that earned for throwing a ball around.

How about a criminal justice system that is bias against people of color particularly African Americans? I don’t think that is too much to ask. Our founding ideals demand it anyway.

That is not to mention an answer for the many systemic inequalities in this country.

Most just want to be seen the same way white people are, and in many cases they are not. I have a high school classmate who is a great guy who told of a police stop where he got pulled over. 4 cars arrived, 2 officers with drawn guns, the officer who pulled him over made him get out of the car. He hadn't done anything wrong and when the assisting cops realized that they made the original cop go back and apologize to him. I know police forces are understaffed and stretched, but they cannot make pre-judgments without any facts.

Crime "facts" are just that. Cops are playing statistics when they roll up to a car with a black man in it between the ages of 18-35. There's only one side that can do anything to lower that statistic.

Their end game is to live like Kangs. And to kill all the white people. Nothing short of that will be acceptable to them.

I can’t tell you what the majority want.

But I can tell you that the vocal minority ultimately want retribution of slavery in the from of white slavery serving them. You see it already on the $22 TRILLION of work servitude in exchange for programs since the great soc

It’s hard to get out of a negative situation when all you do is think about negativity and have an entitled attitude.

At this point I kind of feel like many of them just want others to be miserable, and for themselves to be beyond reproach from anyone outside of their race.
