They are "woke" in the large cities ... Dublin, Galway, Limerick ... probably Cork. Where their media is.
But the people in the countryside are by and large the same way they've always been. A friend of mine asked his grandpa if he liked foreign food, and his grandpa wasn't sure ... the only foreign thing he'd ever eaten was spaghetti and meatballs back in 1978, and he didn't like it.

Define "safe".

Good luck getting through the red tape of the residency requirements or an extended stay visa.
Also, you cannot just walk into Ireland and get a job (if you need one).
The EU has made it extremely difficult for Americans to move to Europe.

You don't have to leave the country. It's big. Just move to a safe town where democrat is a dirty word. Here in Bossier all the democrats list themselves as 'independent' on the ballot. But we know what that word means.

The politicians are but the people aren’t. They definitely have some screwy shite going on in their elections.

Do we start getting dual citizenship in Australia?
You will have to get a spine instead. If you are worried about your kids you'll just have to start organizing a community.

It has to be a country with English as primary language...Australia and New Zealand sound good...

Thanks for these responses. I no longer have confidence in the future of this country... I don’t know if that means in 20 years or 100. But we will never get past slavery here, and these marches are beyond even that now.
I would have named a winner if I had one. Nowhere has impressed me enough to get excited. They all fall out somewhere.

I love how all y’all think these other countries will welcome self-entitled Americans into their countries.
They won’t.
They won’t.

I'm interested in Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Portugal, Panama, Argentina.

I am going to Costa Rica.
I think I misinterpreted the "70s" part of the OP. For me, this would be a retirement thing-- that is why I said hospitals.
I looked into Costa Rica and Belize. Gorgeous weather, used to be bargains for expats-- not as much anymore.
I'd have a hard time committing to central America-- probably an age thing -- I've seen too many tinpots come and go in that region over the years. Not as true anymore.

Russia is a massive culture and climate shock to anyone from Louisiana. Seems extreme.
I was stationed (for ISS) in Moscow for three months at a time, for ~two years around 2000 and 2001. Took some getting used to, but I could do it for sure, especially 20 some years later.
Insanely gorgeous young ladies, well dressed too, good food, amazing history. Snot will freeze in your handkerchief, though, at 10-F

There will likely be a new secession crisis that will come to a head in the next 20-30 years if huge urban swathes of our country continue to embrace marxism and continue agitation.
This will birth a new republic of free states where socialist ideology and practices will be outlawed and dissenters expelled.
This newly minted *ahem* 'confederation' of like-minded free republic states... That is the safehaven.

Eastern Europe, maybe.
But there is no place else. Australia has a libtard socialist problem just like us. Western Europe is a goner. Africa sucks. South America is overly corrupt with lower living standards. Same in Asia. The United States is it. Fight for it or die trying.

Hear good things about Panama. Lots of money there now. Spanish is not that hard to learn.

I have Canadian citizenship so we would bounce to some secluded spot in the great white north if necessary.
