A lot of these older people grew up on legacy media and myths such as "The great melting pot" and such. They believe the old 60s lies and fables and think they are righteous in their protests.

I don't know, but I have a relative (75-ish) who grew up in a functioning, two parent household, is well educated, and had a thriving career. She is now a foaming-at-the-mouth rabid liberal, and makes no less than 5 Facebook posts per day about how much she hates POTUS and every one of us who voted for him. Bananas doesn't begin to describe it.
I don't understand why she wants to fundamentally change the world from the one she grew up in and where she raised her own kids.

It's a really strange phenomenon. I think it has to do with the fact that they've already earned a living, they're in the end stages of life and they're bitter and feel that politicians haven't left them with enough. Never mind the fact that it was predominantly liberals that have taxed them beyond belief.
