What are the policy differences between “moderate” Democrats and Mamdanis / Bass / AOC

I’m seeing less and less of a difference from the “Democratic Socialist” types and the alleged moderates like James Talarico in policy positions these days. Open borders, higher taxes, more welfare, DEI, defund ICE, climate change legislation. It has become more and more homogenous on the left. Can our moderate Democrats like Beaux Duke, Decatur, aggiedub14, etc explain the difference ?

Nothing of substance but it gives so called moderate Democrats and Republicans an excuse to vote against Trump which is really what it boils down to. They will then claim “Trump and Republicans are just to extreme for my vote” then if by chance Talirico wins and exposes his true self they will claim naivety about his true intentions. It’s a tale old as time and you can thank moderate Republicans for it

I agree and I for one, love it.
It's getting harder and harder to find the "moderate Democrat" the left can run to then turn hard communist left later. Everyone already knows they are communist.
Nationally, let them try to run Newsom as a normal moderate, sensible Democrat. More locally, the left can still try and fool people.
Harris is probably the only one left they can run and still try and say moderate because she barely has an opinion herself in that brain of hers.

The left is busy trying to out-left one another.
A sensible Democrat - if there are any - would be wise to pull to the middle while "respecting" the radicals positions.

Seems to be style. No discernible differences on policy unless you have relatively extreme cases like Manchin and Fetterman.
As opposed to "moderate" Republicans who are really just caucus votes and reliable votes only on their pet issues (Collins and Murk are the obvious examples here - more D than R, but do vote with the caucus on most nominees, and are reliable on a handful of issues).

He’s a white guy therefore a moderate

There is no such thing as a ‘moderate’ Democrat any longer. They will always fall in line with the left when it comes down to it. This has been proven time and time again.

Spanberger was supposed to be THE moderate democrat, she's as bad as three you mentioned. Not really sure there's such thing as a moderate democrat anymore, their base would never allow it.

Zero. The most moderate Democrat Wes Moore even admits he'd trans his young son.

The biggest daylight between factions center on foreign policy. Moderates still support US foreign policy efforts in Europe and the Middle East (Israel). Far left want to wash their hands of sending Israel and others in the region weapons and largesse.

I do not know if there is much difference now. As a voter base, many of the moderates either left or have adjusted their stance to whatever the party line is. We know what the party line is. The party has decided to put AOC and TEMU Obama out front as the face of the party.
It is what it is.
It is what it is.

I notice a weird cognitive dissonance on here and in real life where male Democrats I know are essentially pretending the Democrats are still the party of 1990s Bill Clinton. It’s bizarre.

We have one Democrat in my office. Just one. He is in his 60's and he believes the very same. Course these guys listen 100% to CNN or HLN and nothing else.

Isn't Abigail Spanberger what qualifies as a "moderate" Democrat today?

There are none. Maybe, maybe, the DNC will let someone like JBE be anti-abortion at a state level, but anyone in the DNC at a national level has to pass a purity test on progressive ideals are they will be booted. If Fetterman gets primaried in a couple years that will be the tell he wasn't just controlled opposition.
The Right has extremely diverse opinions for better or worse.

Democrats are their own worst enemy. If they would moderate and govern more like Bill Clinton, they would never lose another election.
The only one you can really point to that anyone would recognize their name is John Fetterman.
