Nope, I simply didn't take the leaps you did as if they are foregone conclusions

Every person in that country who our government wants to remove from the situation is a hostage right now. If by hostage you essentially mean a bargaining chip able to be used by a bad guy. Taliban has Biden in a position in which he's desperately locked into the end goal of getting each and every such person out safely. And unfortunately that now requires the blessing of the Taliban, more or less. So they are definitely in a position to use those trapped people as bargaining chips.

How do we get these people out of Afghanistan?
Our military leaders need to tell the Taliban that they are going to retrieve American citizens from Kabul, clear a path and escort them to the airport...like the brittish are. They should ask the Taliban to help facilitate that, and they should just go do it, and go get anyone who needs assistance.
Americans who can should go walk to the airport. so long as they can do so calmly, respectfully, and with unshakeable confidence. It will not be a fun and prideful walk, but I think they could do so safely.
The Taliban said they want peace and will allow us to leave peacefully, and have honored that so far. We should hold them to that and ask them to help us achieve that. We must do whatever it takes leave entirely and completely before our deadline. There is little we can do for Afghan citizens now. Initiative now is important, there is no time

All of my assumptions so far in this shite show haven’t gone far enough.

Not be a fun walk? That’s the understatement of the century. Talk about the most gutrenching moments imaginable. People who want to cut your head off are surrounding you on all sides.

Even a far left democrat cannot square up the fact that Biden left women and children behind enemy lines and the only secure foothold is an airport 90 mins to the north. 1000 times worse than Saigon
Some don’t think any of this is true and the press is lying. They think they can go to the airport no problem like her in the states

They also may have zero American hostages.
Yup, your not called a "Hostage" when your dead.

Sure it was easy for the Taliban to blow across Afghanistan and eventually take the capital. The difficult part is holding all the ground they took. They can't and why the civil war will continue on a smaller scale.
