There was a time where a guy like me who is a small time contractor could head west and have great opportunity to make some money, hell even if just working on framing crews. The demand would be high, and skilled laborers who were citizens, trustworthy and spoke English could have a real opportunity.
Now, California is bogged down by incompetence, onerous regulations, slow permitting processes and mountains of tax. People that play by the rules are punished and illegals cut the legs out of the opportunities of Americans because they can work for dirt cheap(because they dont pay income taxes and dont mind living in squalor).

They’ve lost 9000 structures. That is less than a quarter of new housing starts in DFW alone. Not many are relocating for a six month run.

It hasn’t been hard to find them literally for decades in Texas. Texas hasn’t had a Democrat win a statewide election in 30 years. Ken Paxton sues and arrests everyone and their mother but how many cases have you seen brought in Texas against companies that hire illegal aliens? I mention this because I think illegal immigration is a great platform to run and raise money on but I doubt they do much of anything. They will definitely round up some felons, but they aren’t going to kill the golden goose for many businesses that is cheap immigrant labor. Mar a Lago had illegal immigrants on staff.

There will literally be a shortage of lumber and concrete in this country as everything will be focused upon the SoCal rebuild.

Don’t worry. It will be five years dealing with California bureaucracy to get the necessary permits to rebuild those houses. The permit will not move along uniformly, but with fits and jogs. In other words, they won’t all be being done at the same time.
