We need to bill the ship owners for the cost. Those ships should have been armed a decade ago. We should use the worn out "sanctions card" on whoever funding the Houthis, it's not just Iran.
Actually a good point. Back in the piracy days of the Caribbean merchant ships were armed. Give them privateer status and let them mount .50 cal guns and grenade/torpedo launchers on them. Hire ex military guys to operate them

A coalition was started but France, Germany and I think Italy pulled their navy ships out, they did not want to be under US leadership. All other members sent staff officers. Once again the US is the sucker.
The problem is the lack of confidence in the current US leadership.
Do you blame them?

They hired private security to protect ships from piracy. However, I think the missle attacks require a different kind of protection that merchant ships aren’t set up to handle.
IMO Egypt needs to step up as a large portion of their economy relies on the Suez. The other Gulf states also need to step up to protect their O&G exports. I have already seen a number of ships going from the US East coast to Asia around S. Africa adding another 11 days to their voyages. Couple that with the low water in the Panama Canal and shipping routes are screwed up throughout the world.

Yemen is a nightmare place. North Yemen was in a civil war for years while South Yemen was a Marxist state. Then they unified and there's been a multi-pronged civil war there basically since the 1990's. Not really believing much of what I'm told by Western legacy media, I wonder how many of those ships being attacked were actually carrying weapons to Saudi Arabia, who've been bombing the entire country relentlessly for years now.

Give Iran billions so they can fund Hamas and Yemen. Then send billions to Israel to fight Hamas and also begin to bomb Yemen.
And the usual suspects profit.

This has more to do with ensuring the Saudi-Israel alliance than anything.

Government is organized crime, and it transcends personal politics. I'm thankful I'm old at 40+ and financially maneuverable. To disagree that all these things (immigration, wars, etc..) isn't organized at a higher level is silliness.

This. Like Syria, we had one of our agencies arming one side and another agency arming the other. All with our tax dollars!

King of Oil about Marc Rich is an enlightening Book about the global energy market and how it works. Will both shock and enlighten.

Getting involved in this is basically helping the Saudis in their campaign of extermination against the Shiites in Yemen. It’s a stupid idea, pulling us into a war that will have rotten consequences for decades to come. But it’ll increase Lockheed’s stock value, so, in we go.

Never really thought about that.
Just your suspicion or do more people think this?

Halleleujah let the Holy War begin.
If they want one let God , the true God and His Son and Our Savior, be on other side and give us the strength to win for Christianity.
We tried Peace but they want to kill all of Christianity and we can have that.

North Yemen is really a state.
This is going to be hard and it’s unlikely to go well for us. But we’re boxed in. We have to do it.

We either protect the free flow of goods in our shipping lanes or we don’t. It’s a 19th century issue- simple piracy by a non-state actor. This one is simple. Introduce them to naval power and send them to Allah.
Except that's not what will happen. Once "dead mothers and children" show up on the CBS Evening News, Biden will have the military change from defensive action to "winning hearts and minds". Yemen will likely be getting billions in US aid to rebuild areas we sent missiles into, areas that cost only millions to build.

Bretton Woods. This is what we agreed to do.

Can the collective modern world just accept a few tactical nukes being dropped on these assholes over there, so we can end this nonsense once and for all?
