The same forces that took out the Roman Empire are now in play here and, if we aren't careful, will eventually engulf us all and bring the United States down into third world status. Maybe not in our lifetimes, maybe not in our children's lifetimes, but somewhere down the road there will be a reckoning. When a majority of citizens no longer even agree on the shared values which formed this country and which guided this country pretty well for the first 200 years, what's the point of remaining a single entity?

This is the problem. I've pondered it quite a bit. Perhaps a city-state system for the large cities? Even that would just be postponing chaos. Really though that's all anything is. Any process would be a gigantic undertaking and neither side would be happy with it. Would essentially create our biggest rival and they would be right next door which undermines the biggest advantage the US has, having two giant oceans between us and our enemies.

Just spitballing here.

Draw borders, existing state or new and give people 12 to 24 months to get their affairs in order if they want to emigrate. After that period the borders will be locked down for say, 5 to 10 years with a special, tightly regulated visitation program in place. This will give each new country time to negotiate trade deals, workout their immigration policies, fine-tune their governmental structures and most importantly, develop their cultural identity.

I think it would be a really good thing for all involved*wink, wink*.

Do you really believe that the USA will peacefully allow a new country to be formed here out of some former states or regions?

The United States government would ruthlessly murder anyone trying to peacefully leave this country. We'd make Tiananmen Square look non-violent.

My plan to "go for it."

Form a Mutual Defense military and trade alliance with China. Negotiated to completion BEFORE secession.

Then at the moment of secession, China's naval and marine forces are poised to occupy one or two major ports within the newly seceded portion, thus bolstering the military defense capability of the new nation.

If this moment occurs at a point in time when China's military can challenge the US military on relatively equal footing, the USA will allow peaceful secession, because the USA is a big bully who only pushes around countries thought to be too weak to fight back strongly. This has been the case since WW2.

China will have a naval base and commercial port on the mainland of America. The New Nation will have a strong ally to keep the USA from invading. The USA would never allow peaceful secession unless the little-kid-new nation has the capability to give the USA a bloody nose.

How do you like my "go for it" scenario?

No, we just need conservatives to stand up for conservative principles and not be cuckholds for liberal approval. Hollywood and mass media really did a huge disservice to this country preaching how evil and bigoted conservatives were for 20 years. No. frick that.

The only issue I see is that it would make the US vulnerable to attack.

Anyone who thinks that the blue state country will be content to wallow in its own squalor and results of their own failed ideas is crazy.

They will immediately begin their work of subverting and undermining the red state country in the name of fairness and "anti-racism".

Not really. DC just needs to frick off when it comes to individual state affairs. Let the states do what they please. Reduce federal government size and responsibilities. Literally break up DC and distribute it evenly across American cities/states.

DC needs to become America. Not the other way around.

I think this would work…

Allow those who still hold true to the Constitution to move to the South where we continue the constitutional republic our Forefathers established almost 250 years ago. Those who want to live in a Marxist worker’s paradise can have the rest.

That's not going to happen and, even if it did happen, you're not going to be able to change things due to the entrenched bureaucracy of the federal government.

It is not even that cleanly divided. There are a lot of red blooded Americans living in cities. I live in the DFW area for work purposes but I would put up my 'merican credentials against anyone.

^This.

The truth that we have to face is that our federal government has ceased to function as designed in the Constitution. We are not governed by three coequal branches of government. We are governed by an executive branch that has dictatorial powers through the unelected bureaucracy. Congress has given virtually all their power over to the executive. We’ve ceased to be a functioning constitutional republic and now instead are a dictatorship.
