They should of implemented the BAT (Border Adjustment Tax) in 2017 before the Retail Fedeeration and the Democrats killed it. Way more effective, easier, and less targeting.

Sorry, we aren’t all poor.

Nor are we all rich. The Trump tax cuts were predominately favorable to the wealthiest Americans….not you or your buddy down the road making $500k/yr….the truly WEALTHY.

Tariffs are akin to a consumption tax. They hit the poorest sumbitch and the wealthiest sumbitch. Difference is, the poor guy spends almost all of his pay on consumption so is hit harder by the tariffs.

This blind allegiance over political party is the most aggravating goddamn thing happening in this country. You’d happily eat a bowl full of horse shite right now as long as your cable news station says it’ll help keep the blue team from “winning”.

I mean, this is how you vote? Policy doesn’t matter? frick yall are frustrating.

I’m not an economic expert, so can someone explain this:
Americans buy cheap goods from other countries. Our wealth then is transferred into those countries. Because of those countries tariffs, Americans can’t sell goods there to get the wealth back. Over time wouldn’t that mean other countries become wealthier and we become less wealthy? Isn’t that the reason trade imbalances are an issue?

Our labor isn’t cheap. 1954 isn’t coming back. We’d all love to buy more American made goods but are we really ready to pay the price? We consume A LOT. We’re the richest country in the world, by a lot. We pay others to do things cheap for us. We have that sort of flexibility. Is there an unemployment problem here I’m unaware of?

There is a 3rd option (but it's too late now).

Don't spend recklessly.

If it was the other political team instituting these tariffs and not your favorite team doing so, you'd be losing your mind right now.

I’m just glad somebody is trying to do something to keep the ship from sinking.
And I’m enjoying seeing all the jugheads with short sighted vision whine about the stock market. Bro if we don’t act there will not be a stock market or social security for long.

also do not think this is going to be the case going forward if the economy takes even a minor dip.

Well, we've been in an economic dip for years now haven't we?

What do you call the last few years? Not a dip?

I will give you credit for at least being honest.. So many Magas will twist themselves in knots trying to defend the bullshite, when in reality they just have miserable lives and all they care about is “omg owning the libs !!”

Yep, because I can guess how much worse EVERYTHING would be right now if Kamala was in office.

You think I'm worried about tariffs versus what could have been if Kamala was president?

You're kidding right?

Gimme those downvotes. I care so much! I even gave one to myself. Feels good.

I was on X this morning and saw multiple messages posted by JB Pritzker talking about how tariffs are taxes on the working public. And he said it with exactly zero self awareness about the tax burden he and his ilk have placed on the citizens of that state. I think he's smart enough to realize the hypocrisy that rises to the level of comedy, but likely thinks that his base is too dumb or brainwashed and will just gobble it up.

The wild thing is there are people salivating with hope that there will be a recession or depression solely because they hate Trump. Their willingness to sacrifice well-being over their hate is nuts.

I guess you don't want to hear about the $5 trillion tax cut for billionaires that's gonna be up for a vote soon.
