Issues of racial prejudice especially in the context of the criminal justice system aren’t new or something out of the blue. They have been here since the beginning. We have to address them and deal with them. We shouldn’t quit. Our founding ideals aren’t easy to live up to.

Is that you ausjw?

Hope so, this board could use a good punching bag.

I'm really not trying to put you down, but you should really do some research on the goal of these kinds of protests. I can tell you it has nothing to do with changing voters minds.

America has succeeded because people worked. Now, we have people screaming that America is for sitting on your fat arse and collecting a check.

They are protesting police violence by desperately attempting to bait police into a Kent St situation. Think about how irrational that is
they just want police to be the better men and women. That shouldn’t be too much of a stretch. After all, that’s what we pay them for

Historically the goal of these kinds of violent protests is to goad an irrational response out of the government (as you can surmise it's a reasonable idea if you think your government is prone to overreaction and irrationality). Attacking their own citizens, etc.

If you'd like reading material that outlines this kind of thing in a historical context I can provide.

No, not easy, but worthy of at least a honest EFFORT! Not too much to ask for, imo.

Yes that is me. I don’t want to be a punching bag but it seems like this is a time we need dialogue more than ever. Not sure if it will work but I will try.

I agree they are worth an honest effort. And it is long time we do better in terms of people of color in this country.

Totally is, and when I'm shot at for being on my porch it might be an option I exercise.

No, it isn’t. Seeking violence is not reasonable. Purposefully baiting police into overreaction/more forceful measures is not reasonable.

It may be conceivable that people may want to do so under a certain set of conditions, but that does not make it a reasonable thing to do.

It’s emotional, it is shortsighted, and is almost certain to work against the very message the protests intended to emphasize. It is patently unreasonable.
