When I think of a place that doesn't actually need police, the first place I think of is Baton Rouge.

They should have, I'm tired of tickets down Perkins

We almost voted down a tax renewal

All they would do is raise service fees that they have to get by law. Sheriff doesn't need a millage.

Approval percentage was in the 80s last time this was up for renewal.

There’s a red light every 1000 ft.

People should have voted no because when they do cut the funding for the police you can bet your arse that the millage will not go away.

Didn't know we had so many government waste supporters in here.
Do you think the sherrif's office is any different than any other arm of the government when it comes to spending?

It was crazy watching the returns by precinct. The conservative areas voted for taxes and the democratic areas voted against taxes. It started off with a larger margin as the more conservative precincts were reported first, then it got pretty damn close, then they dropped the mail in vote and it crushed all hopes of the people voting against a tax. It is sad less than 10% of the population voted for tax that will effect everyone living in the parish. This would have not defunded the sheriff, it would have just put a slow to the ever increasing budget that is out of control.

This is a mailer they sent to my house on two separate days before the election.
Looks like it is paid for by a group out of New Orleans called the Promise of Justic Initiative.

Is renewing a millage the same as defunding? I thought the Left wanted ALL money pulled.
