The absurd conclusion to this would be a hundred retired or lesser nba players identify as lunatics, replace 95% of the women, who then create a new league for themselves which pisses off the left and utterly fails because they actually define a woman.

You’re not wrong. If people watch in spite, they still watch. If people watch for the villain, they still watch. But if you take the villain and/or the hatred away, people won’t watch a shitty product. The WNBA needs Caitlin Clark and Sophie Cunningham and propping them up on the news is good for business. Infamy is just as good as fame and being in the news is better than not being in it. The league has been in the news a lot lately, even if most of the news is unflattering and negative.

Most of us watch pro sports to be awed by people who can do things that we can't. I've watched women at Wimbledon. But the first WNBA game I watch will have a grown arse man playing in it.
