Charles Kushner did it cool for Jared at Harvard - gotta drop that $2.5M in the endowment (can write off the taxes too) and there's quid and there's quo but the pro is a little fuzzy.

This is the status quo at private institutions and perfectly legal. Bribing individuals OTOH is probably not legal.

It's the same as "lobbying" congress. Legalized bribery.

Is this what we have turned into. Half of our FBI working day and night to expose cheating on admission test to get into college? Seriously? What about the the drug trade and human trafficking? Is this manpower being used to protect our nation and people?

Those are legal. Why are you always trying to conflate things?

I picked 6 names at random off that list of indicted defendants and did Google searches. All of them popped up. Actor, pop singer, UCLA men’s soccer coach, USC PhD/md dentist, USC women’s some sport coach. You would think that some so called journalists somewhere would get the list, give it to ten people in the newsroom, divide up the names and do simple investigative searches. Journalism! ala Jon Lovitz.

I have a hard time believing these kids didn't know these resumes were being faked.

I mean, you show up and in the first week the crew coach is calling about practice out of the blue?

Of course, if any of them truly didn't know, how do you look at your parents?

Regardless how do you go to class tomorrow?

She wasn't in LA and hasn't turned herself in yet.

Lori, if you're reading this you can hide out at my place.

That's not illegal. What is illegal is to play third party broker and leverage the university and student. At least that's they way I currently understand it.

Rich people pulling strings and buying their kids ways into elite schools.

I am shocked.

How much time did the FBI waste on this crap?

I have zero problems with any school accepting an honorarium, or bribe, to allow a student in

Check out the names on buildings at any school, tell me that kids in those families don't get preferential admission treatment

Why is this news?

THe problem is that the universities never saw this money. If it was Huffman or Aunt Becky paying into the general fund of these universities, there is no crime. Hey USC my daughters want to come here, and here is 500K for you to consider them. That's OK, but paying a third party to take entrance exams or creating fake athletic profiles in order to secure a scholarship, etc. This is textbook fraud
ok, I retract my previous statement, I do have a problem with this

A straight up donation to the school to assure the kid gets in? I'm ok with, but not cheating on grades

This isn't about schools accepting money that could be used for the benefit of others. This is about school administrators and coaches committing fraud on the school by accepting bribes from criminal rackets that fix ACT and SAT scores, doctor school transcripts, and photoshop kids into athletic team photos. All through a fake charity to avoid taxes and conceal the nature of the payments.
