The allegations around the birds (it may have been a particular bird) and their eggshells were not debunked.

this is my recollection of the situation when the subject fell out of the news - haven't heard of any discussion on it in 40 years.

I recall when the topic was hot - and there was a LOT of push-back against the outright ban of DDT. But it all went away suddenly - However I was not so in tune to political shenagigans then as I am now. And there was not much avenue for casually finding things out - morning/evening drive to/from work listening on the radio was about it.

Back in the day, did anyone else see the 'mosquito truck' making the rounds in your neighborhood? It was a pickup with a tank and big sprayer and it just pumped stuff into the air. I'm pretty sure it was DDT they were spraying.

My father tells me a story about those trucks coming through the neighborhood and all the kids would come out of the houses and dance and play in the DDT mist.

There wouldn't be a termite industry if Chlordane was still allowed for foundations, they still spray it on crops around the world.

And how did they explain that it all got better right after we stopped using DDT
DDT is still being used in underdeveloped countries to prevent millions dying from malaria

One thing I've read is that Big Chemical was happy to see it banned because it didn't have patent protection

So, similar to Dow and Freon.

As always, follow the money.

And it’s probably worth the environmental degradation it is causing because they can’t afford first world solutions. But it IS causing environmental problems.

Head lice and bedbugs were almost nonexistent until I was in high school in 1975-1979. We began to get letters about head lice from school. This was strange! In later years, I found out about travelers who had horrors with bedbugs.
Our daughter got head lice a couple of times, and it was tough to get rid of them.
After talking with some people, I found out that the DDT ban was responsible for the comeback of these cursed bugs!
We need relief from these bugs!

Since the late 70’s they fog an ultra low volume formulation of maliathion. It has a distinctive smell that I bet you would remember

Truly a baseless claim, if not an outright lie. The sheer dumbassery this shows is the reason the basket deplorables are the laugh line in many jokes. Made up claims, accusations, distrust of everything they have no experience in.

Government is responsible for the most deaths of humans that isn’t just growing old and dying.

I mean we have so many years of history and proof of this, yet you sit here and call people names that your cult leaders came up with.

I can testify that DDT IS harmful to young humans.

As a youth in the 50’s, we lived on a naval base. They had the “fog man” spray every night. We used to hide until he passed and then we would run behind him in the fog. Well, one night as I ran full speed, I ran into a telephone pole and knocked my arse out.
