WaPo: Hey, Why Can't We Be Racist Against White People Online?

Ben Shapiro weighs in.

On Friday, The Washington Post ran a piece asking a vital question: “Is it okay to make fun of white people online?”
The piece, which is guised as reporting, surrounded the controversy regarding Sarah Jeong, The New York Times’ latest editorial board member, and a woman who has written vile things about white people on Twitter. Leftists argue that Jeong should be given a pass; conservatives argue that Jeong is benefitting from a media double standard in which racism against whites is treated far differently from racism against other people.
Now, suffice it to say that The Washington Post would never have asked the same question about people of any other color. But that’s precisely their point: racism against white people isn’t the same thing as racism against others, because white people have historically had power. Ironically, this argument only justifies the popular conservative perception of a double standard.
But according to the Post, that double standard is justified:

“The term ‘racism’ is not the equivalence of prejudice or bigotry."
This was the root of an argument that I had with a progressive friend of mine. Ultimately, while we reached an impasse on the definition of the term, he conceded that it was likely a distinction without a difference.

They can justify it. The media can justify it. Politicians can justify it.
When it comes down to day to day interactions in real life, there is no justification.
If minorities wanna play this double standard; expect a rise in “real” racism.
It’s counterintuitive to expect solid race relations when one side is allowed to violate the principle of respect.
This doesn’t play out the way they hope and possibly results in a self fulfilling prophecy. I’m sure that would thrill the aforementioned entities pushing this garbage.

Racism has always been a belief that other races are inferior. It has nothing to do with power and never has.
Acting on racist beliefs is called discrimination, and it takes power of some kind to discriminate.
Anybody can be racist, but only those in power can discriminate.

White people have only historically had “power” if you slept through 10,000 years of world history and woke up around 1450AD.

So, in other words, racism against whites is indeed fine, because white people have had more power historically than non-white people
Which is an interesting (but utterly unconvincing) argument in the macro. In the micro, would a poor white woman from a single parent home with a history of abuse from another race be justified in racism (or bias or whatever other cotton picking term you want to use here)?

I like how the left doesn’t claim Asian people as minorities because they throw off the numbers by being smart, hard working, and believers in family values.
Except in this case. Some Asian girl is racist AF on twitter and they allow her to be a minority to protect the precious New York Times.

What are you going to do - go out and treat all minorities poorly because of mostly anonymous people on Twitter?

Precisely.

This isn’t about what I’m going to do.
My present relationships and future relationships are maintained and created on a case by case basis. I don’t encounter many people with this view in real life.
But there is a broader issue here concerning perception by future generations.
If a double standard is allowed to exist, expect a consequence. Whatever that might be?

Pat forde already weighed in on Trump being racist when calling LeBron and Lemon dumb.

But it is used by races who self judge themselves to be inferior, thus without power.

Already re-writing the narrative. Well done.

If a white man calls a black man a racial term out of anger, does that make the white man racist? The white man does not feel that the black man is inferior. He just wants to upset the black man.
