Just a friendly PSA as an attorney who does VA claims: you 100% want to hire an attorney and not a non-attorney. Why? Non-attorneys charge the same as attorneys. And some of your claims will almost for sure end up in front of the Board of Veterans Appeals (attorneys). Doesn't make sense to hire a non-attorney for the same price as an attorney when some of your issues are 100% going to come down to legal questions.

This is the dumbest thing I have read on any of these posts/threads. You think recruiters are out there telling prospective recruits to join the military because they could possibly be injured and receive disability benefits?

All of the "military city" in San Antonio/Austin are luxury vehicles and baw 4x4 trucks sporting a DV license plate. So many disabled getting checks that it is ridiculous. Have a relative receiving significant money for SLEEP APNEA!!!

I don’t want folks on SNAP and any of that shite spending money on drugs and alcohol when the money should go towards their plight.
Same for mentally disabled vets. I want to see you get better. I don’t want to see you be a drunken steroid abuser like you were in high school all the way up through your military days.

i get where you're coming from from an accountability standpoint. but VA disability really is an entirely different animal than welfare from this perspective. assuming all claims are valid, even mental health claims, the money is compensation for what the military life did to you. so if you are getting a thousand bucks a month for PTSD, that money isnt to make you better. it's to compensate you for what the government did to you. obviously, in a perfect world, a vet would use that money for good while also trying to get healthy. but if a guy wants to use that money to drink himself to death, well..that really is his prerogative, from my perspective. and sadly it happens a lot.

this isd definitely an accurate statement. half this board bashes Reagan and GWB now in attempts to outdo each other with conservative purity when you know they all supported them.
for the record though, i supported the invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq. i stand by that now as well. i do wish both had been handled differently in many ways, but with what we knew when we knew it, i think it was the right thing.
