quote:

A family from southern Indiana says their 4- and 5-year-old children were accidentally given adult COVID-19 vaccines, rather than a flu shot, at Walgreens, even as the vaccination has not been approved for children younger than 12.

quote:

The children have been taken to a pediatric cardiologist, and the family was told they were both showing signs of heart issues, and the younger child has been sick with a fever and cough, WFIE reported.

This is awful. "Mistake"

I'd like some input from those in healthcare field -- how is a "mistake" like this possible?

Not excusing the employee ... if I posted what I would do, I'd get banned.

But why get a 4 and 5 year old a Flu shot?

The best way to build an immune system is to have it get busy working at a safe, young age. As Carlin said, swim in raw sewage, eat dirt, yada, yada, yada ...

I'll never understand folks who put crap in their body and don't trust their God-given immune system.

“No proof it’s due to the vaccine. Prove it’s not previous undiagnosed conditions.”

This is not shocking. This will continue to happen sadly

You get in such a routine for giving regular Covid shots, and you’ve gotta separate those syringes with the flu shots syringes . It’s an easy recipe for errors and mistakes .

All retail pharmacies are overwhelmed . Between flu shot season ( that alone is enough) to adding first/second shots for Covid and boosters and soon younger than teenagers in.. it’s so much to keep up with.

And some states they’ve allowed technicians to administer them, which I get why, but it defeats the purpose if they’re giving shots, then other stuff in the pharmacy can’t get done

And the fact that staffing is a nightmare, nobody wants to be a technician and work to death for $12 an hour

Covid has broken retail pharmacy . It is a nightmare , even more so than it usually is

My dad went to Safeway to get a flu shot and a Pfizer booster, pharmacist "accidentally" gave him 2 boosters...I too would like to know why these "mistakes" keep happening.

I wouldn’t be surprised if this is not the first time this has happened. I don’t trust anyone nowadays

This is what medical malpractice attorney's are for.

But keep in mind, in some states they basically no longer exist because legislatures have capped what a plaintiff can earn to something so low that no-one wants to be that kind of lawyer anymore. Not in all states, but some.

So instead of getting a million dollars for this mistake, if you are in Louisiana you will get up to 500,000 lifetime maximum.

just look at the types of people giving out the shots at those types of places and it’s no surprise this happens. I don’t think it’s intentional but when you’re letting not the best and brightest give out shots stuff like this will happen
