quote:”Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.” -Matthew 7:13-14
“The only path to heaven is through jesus christ"
Yea frick all 7.8 out of 8 billion people who dont worship god the same as you do. And most of the "christians" are in name only and dont practice what they preach.
Muslims are dumb but man y'all are fricking insufferable.
This is why Christians have been historically focused on evangelism and apologetics, because many are on their way to Hell for their rebellion against their creator, and they need to turn from their sins and be forgiven through Jesus Christ.

Right. The guy is completely incorrect and I have shown him exactly why he is incorrect and you don't even have to go back to the early days of Christianity to do so. As I said initially, a lot of these people believe their way is the only way and it does not frickin matter what you say. Even if you show them their positions are entirely incorrect, they will not be deterred.
If the Christian dogma were as rigid and straightforward as this guy portrays it, there wouldn't be myriad different denominations. This is just common sense.

This is true for every path. Whether it be Christian, Hindu, Buddhist, whatever. You can have a path, but you gotta walk straight and narrow if you hope to make it through. And this too is basic common sense.

Not having read through every comment would it be out of the ballpark to say that Islam is a sect of Christianity? They accept the Hebrew prophets all the way from Adam, Abraham, Moses, etc. through to John the Baptist and JESUS. They believe that Jesus is the Messiah that will return at the end and drive evil from the world.

They, the Jews, and the Christians all owe their religious beliefs to Abraham specifically.
So according to all of these people Abraham was the only one to live, before Jesus if you're a Christian, who apparently had any inside road on truth. It's the dumbest shite I've ever heard of. In the East they had been doing in depth studies of spirituality and even mapping out the afterlife thousands of years before these people came along.

You can’t just say that differences in beliefs about baptism means that Christians have not historically agreed on what Jesus did.

He needs to be more careful of the sensibilities of those dangerous white Christian nationals.
How can he guarantee the safety of his family when he is so insensitive?

quote:You are now claiming that He was teaching about a specific path? You are differentiating Jesus’ path from others (Hindu, Buddhist, etc), and yet Jesus said it was literally His way or the highway, and the highway leads to Hell (destruction).

You can’t have it both ways. Either Jesus was being a universalist or He wasn’t. If He was, then He was wrong to differentiate His path from any other path, since may paths lead to life rather than destruction. Or. He was wrong to say few will find everlasting life. If every religion teaches the same basic thing, as you seem to be saying, then MANY will find the basic path to life.
Jesus was teaching the opposite, and I think you know that, as you admitted He was teaching about His path over and against others.

I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the father, but by me.

LOOK. Can we *please* drop this fixation on religion?
I too am still not sold on Vivek, there is.....something too slick.
But if y'all are hellbent on questioning whether he is Xtian, you've lost the plot.
There ARE, bigger and more relevant issues.

I think I will go with Jesus. He never claimed to be God.

It isn’t a little thing to talk about how those who lead and influence our nation do so, and their faith and worldviews that influence them.

quote:He did claim to be God.
I think I will go with Jesus. He never claimed to be God.
1) He claimed divine names and titles for Himself (John 8:58)
2) He forgave sins, which only God can do (Mark 2:5–7)
3) He accepted worship (John 20:28–29)
4) He commanded authority over the word of God (Matthew 5:22)
5) He claimed to be one with the Father (John 10:30)
6) He exercised creative power as God by calming the wind and sea with just His word (Mark 4:41)
7) He claimed authority over life and death (John 11:25)
8) He unveiled his divine glory before witnesses during the transfiguration (Matthew 17:2; 2 Pet. 1:16–17)
9) He said He had equal honor with the Father (John 5:23)
10) He claimed to be the final Judge over all (John 5:22; Matt. 25:31–32)
I could go on, but I hope that suffices.
I’ve found the acronym HANDS to be helpful: Jesus claimed the Honor of God, the Atrributes of God, the Names (and titles) of God, the Deeds (works) of God, and the Seat (authority) of God.

Is Islam less Christian than Mormonism, Jehovah Witnesses, Roman Catholics? There is hardly a religion less bloody than the 2000 years of Roman Catholicism and its lineal descendants. Something went seriously awry when Christianity and the Roman government and the Sun God religion joined forces.
At least Islam does respect the prophets and believes Jesus is the Messiah.
